Dalton, Madge Lorena, age 97, of Port Medway, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24th, 2015, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Cherry Hill, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mamie (Conrad) Gray.
Madge was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She and Stedman lived many years in Quincy, Massachusetts, before moving to Appleton, Maine, where Stedman operated an auto body shop. Following this they moved home to West Berlin, Nova Scotia, to retire in 1969. Madge was very proud that she was able to stay independently in her own home, which she did thanks to Verna and Ronnie’s help. She had a love for flowers, and in her younger years spent many hours in her yard gardening. Madge enjoyed reading, playing cards, working on puzzle books but her favorite thing to do was to go for a long Sunday drive.
Madge is survived by her adopted family, the Conrads, Ronnie, Verna, Patrick, Caitlyn, Jason, Lindsay and Sierra; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Stedman; sisters, Elizabeth, Bessie, Nellie, Sadie, Daisy and Viola; brothers, Andrew, John, William, Grafton and Elmer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31st, 2015, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 1st, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., from Mayflower Cemetery, Cherry Hill. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Donations may be made to a charity of choice. It is with fond and loving memories that we say goodbye to Aunt Madge. We will miss her beautiful smile, and sadly all the memories of the Gray family that she could so well remember. A final chapter has closed and we who are left will have to try to carry on.
We will always cherish our times spent together whether enjoying her delicious meals, our visits to the Blarney Stone with her, or her reminiscing of her younger days.
Be at peace with your loved ones, dear Aunt Madge, until we meet again.
again.
