
COOMBS – Graydon H., 83, of Brooklyn, Queens County passed away suddenly on Saturday February 6, 2021 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, Nova Scotia.
Born in Milton, Graydon was a son of the late Currie and Vera (Porter) Coombs.
Graydon started work at the early age of seventeen, as a welder for STENPRO (Steel and Engine Products) of Liverpool. Graydon then moved on to be both Owner/ Operator of his own business, Graydon Coombs Welding, before joining Bowater Mersey Paper Company, Brooklyn, Nova Scotia where he worked until he retired in 2000. Graydon enjoyed woodworking, carving, fishing, hunting and camping. Both Graydon and Jean loved their cottage on Tupper Lake where they spent the summers since Graydon’s retirement. Graydon was very proud of both his cottage and home, which he built with help from family and friends. He was always happiest when surrounded by his family.
Graydon is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Jean (Gardner); daughter Annette Coombs of Dartmouth; son James (Arlene) of St. John, NB; grandchildren Amy Young (Stephen Latter), Marcy (Steve) Brown, Tyler Rhynold (Carly Given), Lee Coombs (Cheryl Barnes), Angela Coombs and Graydon Coombs; great grandchildren Coedy, Dawson, Wyatt, Audrey, Kalen, Alyssa and Hank; brothers Lindsey (Marilyn) of Etobicoke, On; Stephen (Shirley) of Kingston, On.
Besides his parents, Graydon was predeceased by infant daughter Deborah, sister Betty Peach and brother Timmy.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service for Graydon will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Brooklyn Community Cemetery, Highway #3, Brooklyn. No flowers.
