CONWAY – Blanche Isabel, 90, of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away peacefully in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia on Monday, March 6, 2017.
Born in New Grafton, Queens County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Iris (Weagle) Mahoney.
Blanche was the heart of her family and the source of unconditional love and support. Her and Frank’s home and their big kitchen was always filled with family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and loved to provide to all who visited. She was well known for her fabulous homemade cinnamon rolls and bread and would cut it hot from the oven for any who asked. She absolutely loved babies and could not wait to cuddle and rock them. If there was a baby in the house they would always be found in Blanche’s arms. She loved playing cards and really enjoyed playing a game that challenged her. Losing was not an option. She was also an avid reader. She looked forward to listening to music and was always happy when the kitchen party was at her place. The most popular entertainers were her uncles Roland and Leander Weare.
She is survived by her daughters Margaret (Peter) Waterman of Caledonia, Geraldine (Raymond) Crouse of West Caledonia, Sandra (Bern) Power of Caledonia, Barbara (Richard) Frail of Harmony, Merna (Jerry) Muzzerall of Maple, ON, Glenda of Harmony. Her sons Roger (Linda) of Newmarket, ON., John of West Caledonia, Donald (Anna) of West Caledonia, Gerald (Kathy Bungay) of Bridgewater and Michael (Marie) of West Caledonia. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Frank, her daughter and son in law Frances and Ira Forrest; her grandsons Victor Ryan, Cody Selig and Jeff Conway, her infant great great granddaughter Serenity Forrest, her sisters Merna Romans and infant sister Ethel, her brothers Victor, Hubert, Jack, Keith, Donald and infant brother Clyde. Her son in law Jeffrey Selig.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, West Caledonia. Father Charles Offor officiating. Burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, West Caledonia. Reception to follow in the North Queens Fire Hall. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia or the North Queens Fire Association. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
Blanche’s family wish to thank Renate Bennett NP and Dr. James Rafferty and all the staff of North Queens Nursing Home for their excellent care, and a special thank you to the Activity Department of the nursing home for the music and games that kept Blanche so engaged.

Condolences to all the family of Blanche Conway; Blanche was such a Beautiful Lady. I will so miss seeing her at the home. Every morning I came into work and she was at the breakfast programme in the activity room she would give me a big smile and asked me if there was music today. She did love her music and playing cards. She loved you all dearly and was forever telling me little stories that I so loved to hear. Her 90th Birthday was a great highlight in her life as she had many stories to tell me and all who attended. Her grand babies was her greatest joy. Remember all the good memories as you had a Mom that you can be so Proud. R.I.P. Blanche. You will be missed.

It was a pleasure to take care of Blanche. Her face would always light up when she saw me, and she would say” There’s my girl” It means a lot to me to know that Blanche always said that she feels better when I was working on her unit. And so many times I would over hear her telling her table mates that I was just like one of her girls that I had spent as much time at her and Franks house than I had at home. And of course she would always remind me that my kids all look like their father. And chasity walks just like her grandfather. I will certainly miss her kindness and big heart.

Cathy Smith Bowman
Cathy (Smith) Bowman.. My heart and prayers go out to the family and close friends of whom all shared a part in Blanches’ time spent with us .A Mother is the heart and soul of a family and her love was unconditional, leaving a void that can never be filled until our own time has come, and we meet again in a much better place. Her children grew up with myself and my siblings, and we seen many a rough day,but the love was always there,as will it be for an eternity. The truth is,that through it all,we remember only the good times,of which shall forever outweigh any of the hard times spent. The Lord now has another Angel in the palm of his hand, that will always be watching over you all.I pray for you all to find the strength to ease your great loss. All we need is to ask,and it shall be given. That’s the thing about faith. And love is eternal. She will be remembered fondly, and never forgotten, which is perhaps the greatest gift and accomplishment of all.May you stand strong and trust that she is at eternal peace, for all of the love she’d given away so freely.God bless!!
Jean Andrews
My thoughts are with all of you at this sad time.Truly was a kind loving soul and one of a very few people I never heard say a bad word about anyone.
