CONRAD – Moyal James, age 81, of Greenfield, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 20th, 2021 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Adrian and Marion (Benvie) Conrad.

In his younger years Moyal fished with his Grandfather Spencer and his Uncle Henry, before going to work at the Liverpool Dominion Store, working his way up to becoming the branch manager. Moyal and Jeanne moved to Greenfield in 1965 after the birth of their first child, Moyal Jr.. Moyal and Jeanne later operated Jeanne’s General Store in Greenfield for a number of years before opening Riverview Lodge in Greenfield as a hunting and fishing lodge / bed and breakfast for many years. Moyal was a licensed master guide and he also owned and operated Riverview Lures, selling hunting and fishing supplies. Moyal was very active in his community, serving many years as a councilor for the Region of Queens and he was also instrumental in starting the International Woodsman Competition and Maritime Woodsman Competition in 1986 that ran for many years, even dabbling in competing himself. He had many passions including salmon fishing, fly tying, bird hunting at his camps in Jones Harbor and Cherry Hill, prospecting with his good friend Allan Hooper and his father. Moyal was also very athletic and enjoyed playing sports. In Moyal’s later years he stayed close to home to care for his beloved wife, Jeanne.

Moyal is survived by his best friend, Bear; son, Moyal Jr. (Suzette); daughter; Crystal Hagen (Dave Porter); grandchildren, Spencer (Shawna) Hebb, Brandon (Chantell) Conrad, Morgan Hebb, Quinten (Brianna), Gabriel Hagen, Hannah Hagen and Joey Hebb; great grandchildren, Violet, Everett, Emelia, Sophie and Lucas; sister, Pauline Freeman; brother, Adrian Jr. (Christine); many nieces and nephews.

Moyal was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Jeanne; infant son, Geoffrey; infant sister, Marilyn and an infant brother, Keith.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Celebration of Moyal’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, at 1:00 pm., from Moyal’s home at #4791 Medway River Road, Greenfield. Dear Crystal, Moyal and families,
It was with sorrow we read of the passing of your beloved Dad. He was so well known as a leader in the community. My memories of him is he loved to tease and never was at a loss for words if you were keen to listen to his stories. In times like these we learn to ride the waves of sorrow, as one minute we are laughing with others as we share funny memories and the next we are driven to our knees in such unimaginable grief, as some little thing reminds us of our loss and how will we ever recover. Our prayers for you all are that you are lifted up by the love that is surrounding you and you feel God’s peace as you travel this sad and difficult road.
