CONRAD – Erma Deanne, 85, of Charleston, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 25, 2020, in Ryan Hall, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
Born in Charleston, Erma was a daughter of the late Elisha Hastings and Lillian (Firth) Parnell.
In Erma’s younger years, she was a member of the Hollow Log Rifle and Pistol Club, where she earned the Dominion Marksmanship. Erma was an active member of the Anglican Church Guild and also taught Sunday School. A devoted homemaker raising nine children, she still found time to enjoy walking, going to the beach, dancing, music, flowers, feeding the birds and bowling. If Erma could, she would adopt every baby she came upon and was most happy when surrounded by her family.
Erma is survived by her daughters Wendy Skinner of Lacombe, AB., Shelley (Kevin) Deveau of East Port Medway, N.S., sons Jody (Kathleen Naylor) of Chester Grant, N.S., Blake (Joanne Wentzell) of Charleston, N.S., Neal (Wendy Kelly – Conrad) of Dartmouth, N.S., Scott (Victoria) of Mill Village, N.S., Corey(Tina) of Mill Village, N.S., Reid (Bonnie) of Portuguese Cove, N.S., and Darren of Vogler’s Cove, N.S., eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren., brothers Wallace of Cookville, N.S., and Douglas (Judy) of Charleston, N.S.
Besides her parents, Erma was predeceased by her husband Carmon, son Dale, sisters Mildred Woodsworth, Esther Delong, Elsie Freeman, Edra Wentzell and brothers Malcolm, Ross, Arthur and Leon.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, N.S. A private graveside service will take place in New Charleston Cemetery at a later date.
