COLP – Rosalind M. “Rosie”, 80, of Beach Meadows, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Friday, July 6th, 2012.
Born in Milton, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha (Seamone) McKinnon.
After Rosie’s children went to school, she chose a career at K&W Enterprise Book Bindery where she worked for over ten years. She enjoyed her time there and made many lifelong friendships. She was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church and the A.C.W. in Eagle Head. Rosie was well known for her lobster chowder suppers, as well as her Pound Cake, that she was forever in competition with her rival and mentor Lalia Conrad. Rosie had many activities; she loved singing, sewing, knitting and spent many hours playing cards with family and friends. After Rosie’s retirement, she and Clyde enjoyed many trips with their camper, and later many fond years at their cabin in Ponhook.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Clyde Harris, her children: Louise (Gerald) Gaetz of Beach Meadows, David (Anna) of Bramalea, ON, Deborah Boyce of Toronto, Marilyn “Mitzie” (Douglas) Kent of Beach Meadows, Becky Colp (Joe Masella) of Kirkland, PQ. 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Her brother Ingram of Hamilton, ON.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 12th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John’s Anglican Church, Eagle Head. Chaplain Donald Lawton and Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Queens Manor, Liverpool or Queens General Hospital Foundation. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com

Many memories of Rosie that will not be forgotten. Losing a loved one is never easy!! If there is a dog heaven I see her sitting in her chair surrounded by Belle, Max, Tracy and all the others. Our thoughts are with you all.
Aunt Rosie meant a lot to me and even though time has not allowed us to be together she was in my thoughts often. I know time will make it easier to bear, but for now,, I share in your sorrow.

Our deepest sympathy to the family. With the help of good friends, family and the Grace of God you’ll all get through this sad time.
I was saddened to hear of Aunt Rosies passing. I had not seen her since I was very young until one day at the FM Hospital in Lunenburg. When I saw her in the waiting room I thought I was looking at my own mother! Such a resemblance! We had a long heartfelt chat and I felt so comforted by her — she felt like my momma to me! I have thought of her so often since then and I know she will rest in peace. She was a wonderful lady who will leave us with memories of wonderful moments…the ones I have will be cherished forever. Bless you all and may God grant you comfort in the coming weeks and months ahead.
Clyde and family; I am so sad to hear of Rosie’s death. She welcomed me into this community and made me feel part of it. I will always remember here. Joan Osborne.

To all the family, but esp Mitzie, I don’t even have words to say how sad I feel right now for everyone, Rosie was a huge wonderful part of my teen years, lots of laughter and sometimes Mitzie and I caught the devil from her but we, ( Mitzie ), could always talked our way out of it ! ! She was a fun and loving gal and will be missed by many, but for me I will always have a special place for her in my heart. Clyde, you were one lucky fella you landed her !!! xo

One of the reasons the South Shore of Nova Scotia became our home was because of the sincere welcome and support we experienced from people like Rosie and Clyde. They became substitute Grandparents to John and Tara when our own Families were many hours away. I see so much of Rosie’s goodness in each of the people she left behind. Concentrate on this gift, to support each other at this time and carry out her dreams.
TO CLYDE AND FAMILIES -JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU ALL AT THIS SAD AND DIFFICULT TIME.
