CHEVARIE – Richard Henry, 70, Liverpool. It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Richard Chevarie.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Margaret (Chevarie) Samson and Richard Berrette.
Richard spent many years working as a cook on scallop draggers, a job in which he took great pride in. He sailed on the G.S. Mersey out of Mersey Seafoods. Richard enjoyed playing the accordion and guitar. He loved dancing, long drives with his companion, Olive, mackerel fishing and having a beer with his friends. He had many fond memories of his childhood growing up on the Magdalene Islands.
He is survived by his companion Olive Chase, sister Diane Burns of New Minas and brothers Art (Gail) Samson and Michael ( Kathy) Samson, both of Halifax.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. At Richard’s request, there will be no funeral service. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com
