Hello… it was with sadness that someone posted the news of Miss Boyle’s passing on our St. Catherine’s facebook page this afternoon. Miss Boyle taught me in grade 6 at St. Catherine’s in 1973. She was a wonderful teacher… incredibly kind and very effective in the classroom. Some of the “tricks” I learned from her in Math I use today to help my children.
Miss Boyle was one of the best and definitely someone who had an impact on my life…
My sincere condolences…

Miss Boyle was one of my finest and favourite teachers throughout my years at Brooklyn public school (Queens County). I remember her partly through a picture my mother (Mabel Dexter) took of her, probably ca. 1950: tall, dark-haired and pretty, caught mid-laughter. I remember an exciting day when she and another teacher (Miss Morehouse??) went to the Bridgewater /Lunenburg County Fair with us. Miss Boyle was fair and kind to everyone, and she had The Gift for teaching. The world is a better place for people like her.

Miss Boyle was teaching at Saint Catherine’s School while i was there. Did not have her as home room teacher but there were times of teaching in my years as a student there. She could look very serious (as all teachers tended to look to all elementary/junior high students) but when she smiled there was kindness.
I am glad she had so many years in retirement and I hope it leaves the family with happy memories.
Yours truly Blair Beed, Halifax

Ms. Boyle taught me Grade 4 at St. Catherine’s School back in the 1960’s. I learned my multiplication tables and plenty of tricks for remembering them during that year. She also taught me a great deal about “a time to learn” and “a time to play”. I remember her saying to a particularly disruptive student once, “time will pass, but will you pass?” Ms.Boyle, Rest in Peace… and in the knowledge that you helped positively shape so many young lives. Thank you!
Blessings to the family
