Granville – you were one of my Dad’s best friends. The great times you shared back Albany New from sitting in your garage chatting with friends, young and old, to Dad’s camp and all the antics and adventures in between. The stories told, laughs, drinks, memories made – you were a big part of my Dad’s camp life. I hope you are having a good chat with Lori with drinks in hand. To Granville’s family – my heart goes out to you all at this sad time. He was a great man and will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. .

To *Big G* (My Uncle Granville)
You are my favourite person. We shared a bond unmatched. I have countless wonderful memories. You enriched my life in many ways and I hope I did the same for you. We spent a lot of time together whether it was supper at Grammie’s, road trips, driving to Bridgewater to pick up chicks ( birds not women ), exhibition, going out for lunch, gardening, splitting wood, shopping, 4 wheeling, racing, stopping by the house at 4am in need of a tow, waiting 7 hours at the airport because my plane was delayed, pulling my Mustang from the river, sharing secrets, letters, phone conversations, texting one way, travelling to Stewiacke to pick up my beloved dog Bailey, taking care of Grammie, hunting, camp fun, Election Day in Albany New, parties, many late nights, reading, going through old photo albums, watching tv ( I am the queen of Wheel of Fortune but you are the king of Jeopardy!), or just a good old conversation in the garage where we got real about life. We could talk about anything. You were the greatest friend anyone could ever ask for. You welcomed my dogs and my friends. You always told me straight and never judged me. You said you were proud of me and I feel the exact same way. I’m honoured that you are my uncle. I’ll never forget our special day when you took me to Boutilier’s Point. Thank you for introducing me the most amazing lake up the Mersey Road and so many fantastic spots along the way. Thank you for showing me what unconditional love is. Thank you for caring. Thank you for teaching me lessons. Thank you for being you. I’ve never known someone with as many friends as you have. You were majestic. Strong, open-minded, genuine, witty and stubborn. Definitely set in your ways. I’m sorry Bailey killed your chickens. I know you were mad but you still didn’t take it out on us. You would drive us home each night to make sure we were safe. You would cut the grass, bring water when the well went dry, stop by for dinner (although I was only 16 and made mini pizzas in the microwave!). So many memories that I will cherish always. I’m very fond of you and proud to call you my Uncle. I will truly miss you. Your bright blue eyes, your contagious laugh. Your hugs. Your vital force. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to give you the kiss on your cheek that you asked for when you departed. Maybe one day we will meet again and I can fulfill that promise.
Your sweetie,
Bronwyn

The Mayor’s shop was always the first stop on route to the Fader camp. You witnessed and felt the simplicity of life through the conversations usually with a cool one with Granville and others. A land mark that will be missed to say the least. Rest In Peace Granville.

I have no words to express my sadness at the loss of Granville.
I thank him for his kindness and the times we shared over the years.
I can’t recall a time when a visit with Granville did not induce a smile and laughter.
The world is a lesser place without him but I take some solace in knowing that Heaven is improved by his presence.

Always a smile, always a helping hand. That was Granville.
Robert Fader and I own land northeast of Granville’s place. When we’d arrive for a stay at our camp, it was standard procedure to stop at Granville’s shop and visit. Always a blue haze, and often a beer on the go. Granville truly liked his friends and enjoyed their company. We shall miss him. The mayor of Albany New has departed; long live the mayor!

What started out as a drop in to the rec centre to say hello quickly turned into many years of friendship and shenanigans. Granville certainly lived up to his title as Mayor of Albany. He was always there to lend a helping hand, ‘share’ a bottle of rum, and partake in many a fun occasion.
I’ll miss his love/hatred of the Blue Jays, his stubbornness when arguing with Dad, and his infectious laugh.
He was a great guy, and Albany New will not be the same without him.
Condolences to the girls and family.
I hope you keep the radio playing and a few bottles of Blue and Camano in the fridge.

Camp will never be the same. Granville and I were in high school together but the days at camp introduced me to a much different Granville and I will cherish the memories. There was so much of him below the surface. Family and friends were so important to Granville, especially his girls. He will be missed. So sorry for your loss.
