RIP Captain Doug , you will be deeply missed by all those who knew and worked around you. I would like to thank you for the time you took with me during the early days of my fishing career to help me learn what I needed to learn without a harsh word being said to help me on my journey become the man I am today. I will miss our yarns when we fished around each other although some of them we both knew were not true, but as you would put it “all part of the game” you always made me laugh. So I will raise a glass of the Captain for you Captain Bent and may your seas always be calm , rest easy my friend

To Dougie’s family please accept my sincere condolences on the sad news of his passing. Many years ago I sailed as Fisheries Observer with Dougie on several shrimp fishing trips. Over the years and especially now I recall these times with great pleasure. He treated me with complete respect and I learned a great deal from him about fishing and life. I hope that knowing what a fine man he was is some comfort to you during these difficult times. I’m sure he will now rest in peace from a life well lived that touched so many people in a special positive way.
