Beth, Daphne and families,

So sorry to learn of Evelyn’s passing. Regretfully, our last communication was from Ottawa at Christmas. I lost track of her from that point until three weeks ago.

We had fifteen great years at 132 Main St. where her calm demeanor, sense of humor and limitless understanding of the human condition brought help and comfort to families in distress.

I will miss her smile, wry humor and endless jokes. She was a good friend.

David

Condolence from Karen Crouse on September 1st, 2016 8:42 am

Beth, Daphne and family:

So sorry to learn that your Mom has passed. Aside from her working life she had many interests and talents. We shared a lot of laughs and many, many chats over the years being associated with the Bowater Band and also as part of the ‘Doctor’s Office Girls’ group who formed a social club of sorts. She coined the phrase,” do you have the ‘misey’ number for Ms. So -in- So”, meaning the MSI number. Then there were the social occasions when there was always time ‘for another one’. Under her quiet, unassuming manner there was a heart of gold and a sense of humour that could keep you in stitches. Rest in Peace Evelyn. I am sure you and Willard are having ‘another one’.

I know that we will all miss her from her warm smile to her great sense of humor to her kindness whether it was hosting a meeting, taking photos of the band on parade, or to her years as a dedicated clarinet player in our band. She was just simply a great person!

For all of us who were lucky enough to know her, we know that a very special person was part of our lives. I will miss her a lot and I know we all will.

Condolence from Kim Masland on September 1st, 2016 6:57 pm

To Evelyn’s Family,

Words cannot describe how much I will miss dear Evelyn. In my short time of visiting with her we became friends . I told her one day while grocery shopping that she reminded me of my Nana – and that my Nana had passed 4 years ago. Evelyn quickly stood up straight and said “I will be your Nana – I would be proud to have you as a granddaughter as I am sure your grandmother was . There is not a time I walk through the dairy aisle that I do not think of her words that day. She warmed my heart every visit with her witty sense of humour, compassion and endless stories. Evelyn was a treasure to me as I know she is to you. My sincere condolences .

Condolence from Tonny and Marg Larsen on January 10th, 2017 3:31 pm

Dear Beth, Daphne and families
We were so sad to learn of Evelyn’s passing, over the New Years week end. WE loved her dearly and she referred to me as her surrogate sister. We remember you both so fondly from your visit to us in our home so many years ago in Kamloops. Your lovely Mom always had a smile and a new joke to share with us. We met her in 1963 in Ocean Falls when she was my nurse. Discovered we lived in the same apartment complex there and from that time shared many fun visits with your parents way back in those days. We wondered why her cards to us hadn’t come as expected last year. Our love and condolences go out to you both. With love Tonny and Marg Larsen
