Anthony – Douglas Basil; 73, of Mill Village, Queens County passed peacefully in Queens General Hospital on Friday March 1st, 2019.
Born in Liverpool, Doug was a son of the late Eugene and Verna ( Rafuse) Anthony.
Doug worked in the general store in Mill Village for ten years, then spent thirty years as a custodian at the Mill Village Consolidated School until his retirement. Doug also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening in his earlier years.
Doug is survived by his brother Victor of Mill Village.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held in the New Charleston Cemetery later this spring. Victor I was saddened to read about the passing of Doug. He and I were good friends growing up. . We spent many nights hanging out at the corner in Mill Village and at the Rafuse Home. Vic,I was with heavy heart to read of Doug’s passing. Oh can I ever remember how many times he made me laugh while at Liverpool Regional High school. He always had his lunch box and thermos at break time. Doug took great pride in his hallway floors always had them shining. I guess that was part of him to make everything shine around him.
