
ALEXANDER – William A. “Bill”, 78, of Mill Village, Queens County, passed away peacefully in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, on Friday, March 26, 2021.
Born in Brooklyn, Queens County, Bill was a son of the late James and Elva (Nickerson) Alexander.
Bill served with the Canadian Coast Guard for 25 years was well as the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a security guard for a number of years. Bill was an avid chef and held a culinary arts degree and was regarded by his family and friends as a “fanatical” crib player. He will be lovingly and fondly remembered as a very giving and compassionate man.
Bill is survived by his daughter Melisa Hatt of Mill Village; his son William Trefry of Winnipeg, MN; his grandson Liam Trefry; his brother Dennis of Windsor.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife Donna (Hatt); his sister Marie Zwicker and his brother Raymond.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Seaside Cemetery, Brooklyn. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. i am very sorry for your loss. i was bill’s crib partner when we played crib at the legion and we were fortunate to win out in the provincial crib championship in new brunswick where we had the chance to compete in this huge tornament. i will miss playing crib if and when the legion has their crib tournaments. he was a very nice and kind man. i will miss him.
