Condolence from Jonathan Gee on February 3rd, 2016 12:00 pm

Marilyn, please accept my condolences at Joe’s passing. He was a great soul who improved my mood whenever I saw him. I will miss his joking around, and talking to him about food. He was taken too early. They always say that you’re only as old as you feel or act, and I can say that I was very surprised when I read the obituary that Joe was over 70–I never would have guessed it. He will be greatly missed.

Condolence from Stew Horton on February 3rd, 2016 3:40 pm

Marilyn,

You will both always have a special place in our hearts as special friends to Brady’s and Cheryl & I personally. I will miss Joe greatly. All he had to do was walk in the door and I had a smile on my face. Not sure what our connection was but it was there. Take care – keep our thoughts and prayers in your heart in times of loneliness.

Condolence from Donna Hatt on February 6th, 2016 1:13 pm

Marilyn,
Having the pleasure of knowing Joe and yourself Marilyn, for many years, I must say it has been a colourful and memorable journey. Joe’s kindness, quirkiness, and always creative lens will be missed. I’m thankful to have shared so many laughs. It’s been with fondness that I flip back through photos of Joe and his colourful displays at our Artists of WP Shows, looking at Lucky the Lobster – made of fibreglass and rescued from the fire of 2011, to be refreshed with loving care by Joe now standing on the pool deck proudly. And his ‘Little People’ all around the Lodge. Elliott, Risley and Joe. I remember his call shortly after the fire saying he’d like to carve and create new Little People for us to replace the ones we’d lost, but he wanted timber from our woodlands to make them from us – and he did – and now they stand as his legacy, it was a great day when he delivered them just before the lodge reopened … beaming ear to ear. Here’s a little video I shot of him, when he began making the replacement Little People, thought I’d share and hope it brings a smile to your face, as it has done mine…https://youtu.be/ZHZuf1PcM6g
There will never be another Joe … he lives on through his art that touched so many.
XO
