Blaine was a spark… he lit up a room, stimulated our minds with his mastering of Trivia, had a unique way of expression, and was a definite asset to our community. I remember his contribution to the Advance for sports reporting years ago, he was involved with Able Cable for a brief time and lately on QCCRFM which was one of his hobbies. He spent countless hours in the studio, organizing the music, and planning how to present it with his own flair. He would go about town with his recorder talking with folks and then airing their recording on the radio station. The whole community will miss him deeply.
So sorry to hear of Blaine’s passing. A great guy with a wonderful sense of humour. He will be missed by all who knew him.

To Dale and family,
In a world where kindness and care for each other are often overlooked, Blaine was an example of how important it is to reach out to others. Whether it was through his radio show, as a popular quiz master or stopping for a chat, he always made time for people. Being new to the area I will always cherish all the words of encouragement and ‘pep’ talks he gave me; especially in the last few weeks when I knew he was struggling. He was a gift to you and to those who had the great honour of calling him friend.
I know your sorrow is as deep as your love for him. May God and the love you share as a family help you through this sad time.
My sincere condolences,
Kathleen Quinlan

To Dale, I knew Blaine very well, and talked to him quite often when he, you, or Mr Whynott would come through the museum property with Ben. I had talked to you on Wednesday when you told me Blaine had pneumonia but I did not realize how bad it was until I saw his obituary. He knew the end was near when he told me he was getting his things in order. He loved you very much; he couldn’t stop talking about you. I was proud to call him a friend. I hope he is in a better place..
Elmer, Joyce, Wendell, Dale, and Families,

I am so sorry to hear of Blaine’s passing. Blaine and I were friends and met through Acadia University when we both earned our B.Ed.s, and lived side by side in residence. The last time I saw him was when he visited me and my wife, Kate, at our home in Pictou County maybe 20 years ago, and although we only wrote to each other sporadically after that, I thought of him often. We extend our condolences to his wife and family at this difficult time.
So sorry to hear about Blaine. I also grew up with him and he was my first boyfriend at the Parade School (where the fire hall now stands), in Primary. We sometimes laughed at then when we had a chance to talk. He will be greatly missed by his many, many friends and the community he so enlivened. Thinking of you all.

Dear Whynott Family;
Although Blaine has left this earth in body, he will live on in the goodness he has instilled in his family and those fortunate enough to call him friend. Take solace in knowing that he is in God’s hands and receiving his just reward. Words and deeds can be of some comfort, but they can not replace the love, compassion and infectious spirit that was Blaine. Do know that the community shares in your mourning and loss. Please accept our sincere condolences at this time. You will be in our thoughts and prayers in the days to come.

To the Whynott family,

I talked to Blaine at the hospital not long ago as we were both there for similar reasons. He asked if i remembered the time i picked him up for work and his dog got out and no way would he leave that dog. We had to drive around the block several times with the dog chasing the car to get the dog tired until it finally lay down and Blaine got out and lifted the dog off the road and into the back seat of the car so we could take it back to the apartment before going on to work..Ill never forget. I’m glad we got to share a laugh one more time. Blaine will be sadly missed by many people.
Dear Dale & Family,
Joe and I are thinking if you in this time of sadness and sorrow.
Blain was great at entertaining any crowd, from the kids of the classrooms to the trivia goers at Lanes. When talking with Blain, one could sense his passion for things simply through his conservation.

Blaine was one of the best. There were no strangers when he was around, he truly liked people, talked to everyone and drew everyone to his side. And he was so clever and took so much care in everything he did. It wasn’t just that he ran Trivia, he was a quiz master like no other. I always felt like I went in with one brain and came out with another. His questions were as creative and unique as he was. He was also generous and had a great sense of humour. He simply made our lives better and we are better for having known him.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Blaine was a kind and enthusiastic man with a great sense of humor.
I remember the day he came out to the cottage at Summerville to interview John and me about the Still Crazy weekend. We shared some laughter that morning. It played the next day as if we’d dropped in at the studio…. complete with birds chirping in the background!!
He was a force for Queens County… I’m sure he will be missed.

I am deeply saddened for your loss and offer my condolence even though in this case that hardly seems enough.
I just wanted you to know that it was truly my pleasure to call Blaine my friend for most of my life and even though sixty years seems now to be such a short time the experiences we shared would fill volumes and for those memories I am truly grateful.
I only hope over time the burden of his loss will diminish for you all and that you then will be able to look back recall the memories and celebrate his life as I know he would wish.
You are all in my thoughts,
Gordie

Dale,Joyce,Elmer,Karen and Wendall
I did not get the chance to say good bye to one of the best friends I had the honour to share a big part of my life with. Blaine and I shared so many life experiences and he was always there no matter what. I have lost a best friend which pales in comparison to the loss of an amazing husband, wonderful father, spectacular son and a brother who was always there when you needed him.
My deepest sympathies go out to all of you on the loss of such a special person that brought joy and happiness to so many lives.
My life was truly blessed being able to call Blaine my friend.
Peter, Tanya and Family
DALE:
I DON’T KNOW HOW TO SAY THIS WITHOUT BRINGING TEARS
BLAINE AND I PLAYED BASEBALL TOGETHER SINCE WE WERE PROBABLY 12
HE MANAGED “SULAH” FOR PROBABLY A YEAR
I SPONSORED HIS MORNING COFFEE SHOW LAST YEAR WHICH WAS ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE
BUT AS YOU KNOW I PLAY MY MUSIC EVERY NIGHT AND LAST NIGHT I FINISHED A SONG AND LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW TO SEE IF BLAINE AND HIS DOG WERE EITHER SITTING ON THE FRONT STEP OR STANDING UNDER THE STREET LIGHT
THAT HIT HOME
ANYTIME YOU ARE WALKING BY IN THE FUTURE FEEL FREE TO STOP IN AND IF YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE SONG I’LL TRY TO PLAY IT
GOD BLESS BLAINE AND ALL THE THINGS HE DID
HE PLAYED SECOND BASE FOR ME AND I THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO BEAT THIS
BUT AS HIS KNICKNAME GOES
IT GOT THROUGH HIS LEGS
GOD BLESS YOU AND THE GIRLS AND ELMER, JOYCE, WENDELL, KAREN AND FAMILIES
JOHN B HENLEY

To Dale, Elmer and Joyce, Wendell and Karen and other family members, it is a sad time for all of you, but you have all of those fond memories of a fine man. I talked to him just a few weeks ago as he walked his dog, and have that image in my memory.
Dear Saulnier and Whynott Family
It is with regret that we have lost dear Blaine far to soon. My heart is with you always but especially today. Wish I could be with you and give you hugs and share tears. Dear Elmer and Joyce I would never wish the lose of a child on anyone, but especially two of the most wonderful people I have ever met. I hope that the thoughts and prayers I send today will help ease your pain. Someone had another plan for Blaine, they must have needed him elsewhere other than with us on earth. Love to all. Chez

So sorry to hear that Blaine is gone. We sure had some good times on the ball field and at work as well. Although many years has come between us, I will remember those times for sure. Your apartment on King street with all those stairs, us sitting there for hours working on our Hockey pools, and your dog, that one with the patch on his eye, I think he called it Bandit. He sure loved that dog. You were good friend and great person, R.I.P. old friend.
Amiel & Linda

Dear Wendell and Karen and Blaine’s wife and family,
I just wanted to express my deepest sympathies. I remember Blaine from LRHS and the Youth Group growing up… As I moved away to BC have lost touch but have heard and seen him in the news often. A bright and shining star for Liverpool… gone too soon.
Take care and thank you for the video pictures, it brought back a lot of good memories and showed how much he loved his family and his dog. God bless you all and keep you,
Sherry Anthony (from Brooklyn)
Blaine’s Valedictorian speech St Mary’s 77 Grad was wonderful, he was a great guy. My sincerest condolence to family.
