Schnare,

Schnare, Laliah ( Bud)- 89, Charleston, Queens County passed away November 22, 2009 in Queens Manor, Liverpool.

Born in New Germany, Bud grew up and lived in Charleston surrounded by her family.  Bud was employed at Stedman’s in Liverpool for many years, before retiring  to cater to her grandchildren.

Some people might remember Bud from working at the Stedman’s store while others will remember her for entertaining them with her guitar, accordion, or singing.  She always enjoyed the company of her friends and entertaining them at the “camp” along the Medway River.  She was a woman ahead of her time and lived her life as she wanted, breaking down barriers.  She was one of the first women in her community to drive a car, could talk her way out of a speeding ticket, knew how to bait a hook, and was never afraid to speak her mind!! She always welcomed new people in the community and maintained many of these relationships long after they moved.  She adored animals, especially her German Shepherd and Newfoundland dogs and often would prepare a feast for them.  In her later years, she took care of her husband and continued to live life to the fullest.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Frank, Charleston, Granddaughter Andrea and her husband Brian Grzelewski, Houston, Texas, Granddaughter Krista Schnare, Pictou, Great-Grandsons, Alex and Eli, Daughter in-law Doris Schnare, Bridgewater.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Gordon Schnare, her aunt and best friend Laura Lambert and a grandson, Paul.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at a later date.  Donations in memory of Bud may be made to any local SPCA.  The family would like to thank Dr. Woodford and all of the staff at Queens Manor. On-line condolences may be made at www.chandlersfuneral.com

Dear Frank, and all of Bud’s family , we are so saddened by the loss of this wonderful woman ,mother ,friend to all who knew her. You are so right about how she welcomed new people to the community, she did just that to us, welcomed us and became a dear friend. she would often drive over to our house with her tea pot with a tea cozy over it to have a visit with me and sit on our deck and have a little spot of special tea. When I think of the days with Bud, Gorden, Alfie and Ruth, those were the days. Your Mom , Grandmother had a wonderful full busy life. The last couple of years when we would visit her at the Manor, she really didn’t remember us so I thought, but we could still get her to laugh and I thank God for that. For that is how we will remember this great LADY. God Bless you all and keep you strong at this very sad time.
