Just a few short weeks ago David came to tell us of his illness. We were shocked and saddned but he said he has lived 72 years( 52 married) and no regrets. In reading all the heartfelt messages there was a common thread of David’s life. He was a gentle man and a caring man to his family and his many friends.During the Liverpool run in 2013 where he ran with Arnold was just an example of his kindness to others.I will always remember his golfing tips and his latest running tip he heard in Digby when you ran Marion. David was one of the kind and Marion you lost your soul mate and We hope you will continue gardening and running with David by your side.

Condolence from John Rideout / Jenny Keenan on October 17th, 2014 6:30 pm

Dear Marion,

During the summer of 2013, I was running in Moncton and a passing car called out my name. Later, in September, you and David ran in the Berwick 5 miler and it was then that he told me that he was the “mystery” driver in Moncton. He (and I ) had a great chuckle when I told him that I had no idea who had called out to me.
David was a true gentleman. David and you made a great couple and you both contributed to the sport of running.
You are in our thoughts.

Marion: My condolences with David’s passing. I was away at the time and learned of his death on return. I have fond memories of running around Western Head with David years ago when I lived in Liverpool (’78-82). At that time, David had just taken up running and would run short distances with me as I passed the house. He always told me he would run around the entire Head with me someday and, in time, he was ultimately doing this. Always enjoyed seeing you and him at the races, most recently 2 months ago in Digby. Again, my thoughts and prayers for a good guy.

He was so wonderful and told me a lot about you and himself. He talked about his marathons and how much you both enjoyed them.
He also loved the Music Jams. You both were such kind people. David was playing his guitar and always had that wonderful smile we will never forget. He was always happy and told us how much he enjoyed Gary’s Guitar Playing and my singing. You both also were so great to bring Fred to the Jams. Our Love Prayer’s and Sincere Sympathy goes to all of you at this very sad time. David is now busy in Heaven running his Marathon with God and playing his guitar for the angels. God Bless you all.
Love Gary & Heather Crossland.
