Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be held at a later date. My son Rob, 32 at the time, and I had a lovely visit with Janet in 2001.We were having a pilgrimage of sorts to visit our Maritime relatives and roots. When we sat down in her living room, she looked at Rob and asked what he would prefer, “tea or coffee?” And when he briefly hesitated she added, ” and don’t say either, or it doesn’t matter.” She turned to me and added, “don’t you agree that an answer like that would not be the least bit helpful.” i did agree and we laughed and asked for coffee. Since that day I always state my preference, in her honour, when asked. I didn’t know Janet well but I feel a sadness as this generation comes to an end. She was part of the family lore and I extend my condolences particularly to Marilyn and Chuck who were dedicated to her well-being.

Our yearly visits to Nova Scotia always included a visit to the McGinty Farm and later to Caledonia to see Clarence and Janet. They were good to us when we were kids growing up. Last saw Janet in the Nursing Home and she knew me and always kept in touch with cards and notes. She will be missed and she was so lucky to have Marilyn and Chuck in her life.

To Marilyn , Chuck, and families,

I am so sadden to hear of Janet passing, I had been planning on going up to see her before Christmas. Her and Clarence were good
neighbours, and we had many a chats over the years. I use to chuckle
when they lived up on the farm, and I know you have lots of good memories of there, when we would have a bad snow storm she would
call me to see if we were all right. I also have good memories of her
working the suppers she enjoyed them so, meeting people and all
Take care, and I will light a candle in her memory at the church for her

I am very sad to hear that Janet is gone. I remember her as a beautiful young woman years ago before I left Caledonia. Her father and brothers were respected neighbours and it is hard to think that they are all gone. Rest in peace old friends!

Marilyn and family:
I would like to offer my condolences to all of you on Janet’s passing. She always had such a friendly, welcoming smile whenever I met her. My daughter-in-law met her at Mass shortly after she and Derek were married, and was ever after in awe of her friendliness whenever they went to Mass at St. Jerome’s. She always went to talk to them, and any other visitor who came to our little church. Once she met you, she always addressed you by name. Love and prayers.
