Condolence from Jean Strum on December 21st, 2017 1:36 pm

Dear Colleen and family:
Please accept my sincere condolences at the passing of Gary. Even though he was unable to verbally communicate when I visited him at Queens Manor, he always had a big grin and handshake for me. When I spoke to him about Zion church he appeared to understand and responded with a grin. I’m sure he is now at peace.
God Bless,
Jean Strum

As Gary’s cousin I was sad to hear of his passing. Although we have lost touch over the years I still thought of him and remember the fun times we shared growing up. I would spend my summer vacation in Liverpool with Aunt Leola & Uncle Alan and Gary – Gary was a kind & caring cousin. My love goes out to him.

Condolence from Lynn Kempton-Lowe on December 21st, 2017 11:29 pm

Dear Colleen,
I was so sorry to see Gary’s obituary online when I got home from the Manor tonight. I didn’t realize that he had passed away. The staff at the Manor are so considerate and respect the privacy of the family. I have had 5 years to get to know Gary and I’m so glad that I had that opportunity. He may not have talked a lot, but he definitely was able to communicate his feelings. His smiles, his handshakes and the things that he enjoyed were all very evident to those who knew him. Gary’s upbringing showed in the way that he conducted himself – I found him to be a gentleman at heart and that showed in many ways. My condolences to you and any other family members who are feeling this loss of one whom you held so dear. I have come to appreciate your friendship and our little chats as well, Colleen and hope that our friendship will continue as the future unfolds. My love and prayers are with you at this sad time and I know that Larry would want me to express his sympathy to you as well. Sincerely, Lynn

Condolence from Judi Cleveland on January 3rd, 2018 3:29 pm

Colleen and family:

I have been away for the holidays and am just now learning of Gary’s passing. I am saddened by the news and want to pass along my sympathy and regards.
I loved to visit Gary and see him light up and we talked as best we could on our trips around the manor. Gary was a friend and playmate in my younger years, always kind and ready with a smile. A special light has been extinguished and we are lessened.

With sympathy,
Judi Cleveland

Condolence from Jim Cleveland on January 3rd, 2018 7:46 pm

I was very sad indeed to learn of Gary’s passing. Gary and I go back a long way to our high school days and before.
We always had fun together – playing badminton in LRHS on Saturday mornings, playing table tennis in his basement, comparing our stamp and coin collections, trading comic books, playing crokinole in our living room and running around each summer night with the neighbourhood kids. Gary was a friend of mine and I regret not making the effort to visit him in the later years. Colleen – please excuse the lateness of my condolence here and accept that I was truly moved by Gary’s death and now extend sincere sympathy to you and your family. I will miss Gary but not the great memories of growing up together. He was indeed a wonderful person. Rest in Peace my friend.
