Ferguson; Mary “Mildred”

FERGUSON – Mary “Mildred”, 83 of Hillside Pines, Bridgewater, formerly of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on January 5, 2012.

                            Born in Brooklyn, Queens Co, she was the elder daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Mildred “Basheba” (Snow) Flemming.

Mildred was a long time member of Milton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where she served as assistant treasurer and was active in the Christian Womens’ Fellowship.  In her earlier years, she was a youth leader for both 4H and Brownies. She enjoyed sewing, and crafts, particularly ceramics. For many years, she and her husband, Bob were avid square dancers, forming many strong friendships. They frequently travelled across the province, as well as Europe, for square dances. Mildred loved to go for “spur of the moment” drives where she and Bob would stop along the way at their favourite restaurants or to visit friends. The light of her life was her beloved grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 54 years, Robert (Bob); daughters Janice (James) Harvie of Bridgewater, Paula (Paul) Yarn of Dartmouth; her treasured grandchildren: Mallory  (Nathan England), Nathan, Shannon, and Liam Harvie, and Callyn (Jeremy Whalen), Christopher, Colin, and Camden Yarn; brother Robert (Joan) Flemming of Great Hill; sister in law Audree ( Jason) Ferguson of Halifax. She had special fondness for her niece, Alexis (John) Millar of Ottawa and her 2nd cousin, Kenneth Wile of South Brookfield.

She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Mae Hirtle.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, at 3.00PM at Milton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Reverend Angus R. MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow.  Burial will be at a later date. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Milton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. The family would like to thank the staff of the 4th floor for their kind and compassionate care during Mom’s hospitalization, particularly Tina, Jill, and Dr. Mada Nestel. Quinn; Vivian Louise

QUINN – Vivian Louise. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing on December 30th, 2011 at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

                                     Born September 19, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Iola Coolen and the late J. Malcolm MacDonald.

                                     For most of her adult life, she worked in Liverpool, NS and Timmins, ON retiring back to NS in 1985.

                                     She is survived by daughters Donna (David) Campbell, Sudbury, ON; Deborah Ramey, Bridgewater. Son Richard (Carolyn) Hennebery, Liverpool. Step daughter Susan (Les) Coles, Timmins, On. Step sons: John (Barbara) Quinn, Terry Quinn,  Michael (Tina) Quinn,  Brian (Debbie) Quinn. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by husband John “Jack” Quinn, first husband W. Malcolm Henneberry, daughter Yvonne “Bonnie” Huskins, sister Doris Shatford and brother Malcolm “Junior” MacDonald.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A celebration of Vivian’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vivian’s memory may be made to charity of choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com

 

Anthony; Lawrence Clifford

ANTHONY – Lawrence Clifford, 82, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on December 31st, 2011.

                            Born in Charleston, Queens County, he was a son of the late Laurence and Dorothy (MacKinnon) Anthony.

                            For numerous years, Lawrence was owner/manager of South Shore Transport, Liverpool. He was supervisor with Department of Transportation, Liverpool Depot until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed hunting and sport fishing in his younger years. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter who was the “apple of his eye”. He will be missed by his numerous friends with whom he met regularly at the local grocery store parking lot.

He is survived by his daughters Wendy (Stephen) Whynot and Wanda (Brian) Spencer, both of Milton. His sons Sterling (Marilyn) of Bridgewater and Wayne (Judy) of Milton. His grandchildren Jason, Michael and Laurie-Anne and his great-granddaughter Casey. Sisters: Edna Meisner of Bridgewater, Helen Rafuse of New Germany, Roxie (Ingram) Johnson and Myra Knox both of Brooklyn.

He was predeceased by his wife Florence (Thistle) in 1986 and his sister Izilda Lyons.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, where a visitation will be held Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 from 7 until 9 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. Moreau; Hilda Marie

MOREAU – Hilda Marie, 95, of Queens Manor, Liverpool, formerly of Port Medway, passed away peacefully in Queens Manor on Saturday, December 31st, 2011.

             Born in Greenfield, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Annie (Aulenback) Freeman.

             Hilda was a member of the Highway Pentecostal Assembly in Sandy Cove. She loved to read and listen to music.

She is survived by her daughter Florence (Patrick) Parnell of Mill Village. Son Randall of Liverpool. 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her brothers Lee of Ontario and Foreman of Dartmouth.

She was predeceased besides her parents by her adoptive parents James and Bertha Moreau, Husband, Edward, daughter Betty Parnell, son Charles, her sisters Irene Huskins and twin sisters Muriel Parnell and Myrtle Brown. Her twin brother Harold,  brothers Frank, Alvin, Robie and Gordon.

Visitation will be Monday, January 2nd, 2012 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Highway Pentecostal Assembly, Sandy Cove. Reverend Fred Carr officiating. Burial will be in Mill Village Community Cemetery.
