MacLeod, Daniel Frederick, 78, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011, at home.
Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late William and Arlene (McLeod) MacLeod.
Dan joined the Royal Canadian Air Force right out of school spending five years in the service before moving back home and going to work for Berwick Bakery. Following his employment with the bakery, Dan went to work with Dominion Stores where he became store manager then moved on to TRA. Dan then went to work at Stenpro in the machine shop, retiring in 1998. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards and working in his garden.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Oickle); daughters Myra (Leslie) Foley, of Lafayette, Louisiana, Katherine MacLeod-Tucker (Barry Tucker) , of Coldbrook; son Peter MacLeod (Dennis Wyatt), of North Vancouver, B.C. ; sister Helen Roberts, of Liverpool; brothers Jack (Ellen), of Milton, Bruce (Judith), of New Brunswick; and four grand dogs.
He was predeceased by a sister Mary; brothers Robert and Maurice.

Clattenburg; Ruby Pearl

Clattenburg, Ruby Pearl, 91, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away Sunday, November 27th, 2011, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Milton, Queens County, on October 31st, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Milford M. and Annie (Hall) Gardner of Brooklyn.
Ruby was in the first graduating class of the then new Liverpool Regional High School in 1938. On February 26th, 1943, she married Gerald Clayton Clattenburg, from Port Medway, in a service held at the Brooklyn United Baptist Church. While Gerald served overseas during World War II, Ruby worked in Halifax. Following the war, Ruby and Gerald operated the Modern Lunch Restaurant in Brooklyn until 1967. From 1967 until her retirement in 1984, she worked side by side her husband at the Liverpool Co-op Store in Brooklyn. In her younger years, Ruby played broomball, curling and golf. In past years, she was active in the Brooklyn W.I.N.S., the Canadian Red Cross and the Queens County Branch of the Arthritis Society. She was a member of the Seaside Seniors and Brooklyn Seniors Clubs. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards. In retirement, Ruby and Gerald shared the joy of travelling to Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Bahamas, Florida and Bermuda. Ruby was also a life long member of the Brooklyn United Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons Rodney, of Brooklyn; Barry, of Edmonton, AB. Sister Ruth Norton Murray of Liverpool, brother in law Ernie Lloyd of Bridgewater, sister in law Evelyn Weeks of Ottawa and special niece Delitha Norton of Liverpool.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 1992, sister Nellie in 2008 and daughter in law Beth in 2011.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. In keeping with Ruby’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be in Seaside Cemetery, Brooklyn. Goulden; Everett Joseph “Boathouse”

Goulden, Everett Joseph “Boathouse”, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away on Thursday, November 24th, 2011, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Everett Joseph Sr. and Nellie Mae (White) Goulden.

Boathouse was employed at the Bowater Mersey Paper Mill for over 25 years. He was a former member of the Liverpool Volunteer Fire Department, Liverpool Golf and Country Club and the Senior B Cubs Softball Team. Boathouse loved hunting, going to yard sales, and doing card tricks for his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin, music on the hill and jamming with his friends. He was affectionately known by his friends as being a bit of a pool shark.

He is survived by his loving wife, Freda (Moss); daughters Leslie (Alan) Robart, Heather (Paddy) Kelly, Kelly (Andrew) Maule; son Shane (Shelley); all of Liverpool; grandchildren Ami-Lynn (Tony), Simeon (Holly), Rachel (Brandon), Rebecca, Jack, Micheal.

He was predeceased by sisters Margaret, Joyce, Betty; brothers William and Frank.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral and Cremation Service, Liverpool. A Celebration of Boathouse’s Life, will be held Sunday, November 27th, 2011, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool. Whynot; Wilfred Henry “Buzzy”

WHYNOT – Wilfred H. “Buzzy” 76, of Mill Village, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 with his wife and family by his side.
Born in Liverpool, Buzzy was a son of Marion (Wagner) Whynot of Liverpool and the late Reginald Whynot.
Buzzy was a former construction worker and truck driver. He was a member of the Mill Village Fire Department for 55 years, a member of Bethany United Church, Mill Village and a life member of the Nova Scotia Guides Association.
Surviving are his best friend and loving wife of 57 years Joyce (McLaughlin); daughters Judi Maillett of Liverpool, Susan Levy of West Berlin, Dottie (Gary) Hatt of Mill Village and Angela (Ronald) Young of Brooklyn. Sons Greg (Linda) of Liverpool and Richard (Patti) of Pender Island, BC. Granddaughters: Alicia (Andrew), Lisa (Adam), Christie (Dustin) and Krystle (Jesse). Grandsons: Josh (Angela), Brendan (Amanda), Christopher (Nicole) and Shawn (Tash). Great grand daughter Leigh-ann. Sisters Margie (Carleton) Manthorne of Mill Village, Phyllis (Sandy) Soderstrum of Chilliwack, BC, Patty (Roger) Whynot of Liverpool and Sharon (Adrian) Westlake of Mersey Point. Brothers Gillie (Mona), Claire (Janet), Peter (Joan), Cliff and Ricky, all of Liverpool Stevie (Doreen) of Brooklyn.
He was predeceased by Sisters May Awalt and Barbara Fancy , brothers Jack and Paul and son in law Murray Levy.
Visitation will be Friday, November 25th, 2011 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. PARNELL – Douglas A., 69, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital , Friday, November 18th, 2011 with his family by his side.
Born in Milton on July 18th, 1942, he was a son of the late William and Muriel (Freeman) Parnell.
Doug was a former employee with National Steel Car in Hamilton, ON., Steel and Engine Products and Mersey Seafoods, Liverpool. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his early years as well as dancing, swimming and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Judy (Westhaver); his daughters Cathy Parnell (Shane MacDougall) and Janet Parnell (Raheem “Rod” Ismaily) both of Liverpool. His grandchildren Christopher and Caitlyn Whynot, Azeem, Mateen and Aleem Ismaily. His brothers Robert (Edith) of Brooklyn, Charles (Doreen) of North Vancouver, BC, Pat (Marie) of Dartmouth.
He was predeceased by his daughter Patricia and his brother George.

Dexter, Elizabeth Ann, 57, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away on Monday, November 14th, 2011, at home.

Born in Taunton, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of Carmen (Legacy) Dexter, of Taunton, Massachusetts and the late Samuel “Burpee” Dexter.

Elizabeth enjoyed playing and listening to music, teaching aerobics and anything crafty. She was an adherent of the Summerville Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.

She is survived by her loving son Matthew (Brittany) Verge, of Port Mouton; sisters Myra Dexter, of Taunton, Mass., Carrolyn Hodge, of North Carolina, Charlotte Magazau, of Taunton Mass., Holy Mulvihill, of Taunton, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters Bonnie Firth, Carol Hill and a brother Bruce.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 18th, 2011, from 7-9 p.m., and a funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., both from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, 91 Union Street, Liverpool. FRAIL, Philip L., 60, of North Brookfield, Queens County passed away at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool after losing his battle with cancer on November 12th, 2011.
Born in Caledonia, he was a son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Smith) Frail.
Philip worked for many years as a fish cutter at both National Sea and Riverport Seafoods. He finished his working career in the woods working for various people. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Philip loved taking Blake fishing, and Brayden and Isabella loved taking his hands while touring his flower gardens. His passions in life were fishing and playing his guitar.
He is survived by his wife Christeen (Meisner), daughters Theresa (Robert Ernst) of North Brookfield, Elissa (Christian Cooper) of Amherstburg, Ont. and son Sheldon (Ashley Swinimer) of Branch LaHave. Grandchildren Blake Frail, Brayden and Isabella Ernst and Corbin Cooper. Sisters Judy (Randy) Himmelman, Barbara (Lindon) Meisner, Beverley (Murray) Hubley, Deborah (Doug) Mailman and Wendy (Carl) Hawkes. Brothers Richard (Barbara) and Brian.
He was predeceased by his sisters Joan Robar and Dianne Oickle, brother Wayne and nephew Michael.

Giffin; Stanley Wilson

Stanley Wilson Giffin passed away peacefully at Queens General Hospital on November 13, 2011 after a short battle with cancer.  
Stan was born in Sable River on October 6, 1933 to the late H. Stanley and Kathryn (Wilson) Giffin. 
While in high school Stan enjoyed sports, including basketball and track & field.  As a young man he was a member of the Merchant Marines. He enjoyed singing with his father and uncles in their quartet. Stan enjoyed the outdoors and many weekends were spent with family and friends at Silvery Lake, “The River” and other camping areas. He worked many years in construction, and retired from Michelin Tires in 1990. He spent his retirement spoiling his grandchildren, doing yard work, travelling, and taking care of and enjoying his property on “The River”, lovingly referred to by some as Stan’s RV, for which he was the warden.
He is survived by his daughters Dawn Marie (Mark) Davies of Ottawa and June (Maurice) of Sable River, his sister Faye (John) Bower of Antigonish, his grandchildren Jeremy (Ashley) Martin of Halifax, Shawn Davies of Ottawa and Jared & Linden Martin of Sable River.  
He is predeceased by his wife Shirley (Verge) and son Gary.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 17th, 2011 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. both in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Cameron – Susan “Janet” 79, of Gaspereau, formerly of Liverpool, passed away November 9, 2011 at Vineyardview Guesthouse.
Born at Rapid Falls in a house along the Mersey River in Milton, Queens County on July 18th, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Roy D. and Lucy E. (Whynot) Nieforth.
In the earlier part of her life, she was known as “Honey” to her family. Her father worked for NS Light & Power and the family lived in various staff houses along the Mersey River including one at the Town Site. She graduated from Sheet Harbour High School and went on to graduate from the Normal College. Her first teaching job was at the one-room schoolhouse in Hunts Point. The remainder of her career was spent at elementary schools in Liverpool and Milton. She married fellow teacher Neil Cameron in 1965 and they spent many years enjoying the outdoors and gardening together.
She is survived by son Paul, daughter-in-law Marilyn, and grand-daughter Hannah, Kings County, NS; sisters Barbara Morrison, Oakville, Ont., and Mary E. (Betty) MacKay, Toronto, and brother Wayne, Sheffield Mills.
Janet was predeceased by her husband Neil in 1993 and her brother Roy A. “Brother”.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 13th, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 14th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Liverpool. Father Brian Murphy officiating. Mooers; Lillian Isabelle

Mooers, Lillian Isabelle, 89, of Liverpool and Milton, passed away peacefully at home on November 9th, 2011.
Born in Milton, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Mooers and Edith (Whynot) Mooers.
She loved music and animals, especially dogs. Her skills varied from playing piano at social teas put on at the Tupper House in Milton to playing the accordion at many Guides Meet’s campfires. Lillian learned how to play many instruments at the CNIB School in Halifax where she was accepted at the age of 8, graduating in 1939 with a degree in music. She was offered a full scholarship to Trinity College in England. Lillian was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Mersey Branch # 38, Liverpool.
She is survived by a son Gary of Milton, sister Joyce Porter of Lunenburg, and niece Cherry (Larry) Whynot of Liverpool with whom she resided for the past six years.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister: Phyllis, brothers: Ronald, Roland and Clarence “Bubby”.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 15th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in Milton Community Cemetery.
