OLIVER, William Otis (Bill), 90, life-time resident of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2011.
Born in Milton on May 9, 1921, he was the youngest child of George Llewellyn Oliver and Muriel Rebecca (Boyd) Oliver.
He was the last surviving member of his family. In his early years, he worked in the woods and throughout his life always had a deep connection with trees and nature. He was gratefully employed with Bowater Mersey Paper Mill, and retired in 1983 after 40 years of service. He was the last active founding member of the Milton Canoe and Camera Club.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vera (White) Oliver, daughters, Barbara (Stephen) DeLong, Lower Branch, Linda Oliver-Parks (Gary Parks), Second Peninsula, Cathy Oliver (William Nycum), Tremont, and son, Stephen (Christine) Oliver, Milton, along with grandchildren, Emily DeLong, Michael Parks, Matthew Parks, Riley Oliver, and Bailey Oliver. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Muriel “Dugie” Oliver and Dorothy Oliver, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Nora Whynot, Muriel Whidden, Vesta Huskins, Evelyn (in infancy), and brothers, Perry, Ernest, and Lyman “Russ”.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where visitation will be held Sunday, October 2, from 7 until 9:00 pm. and funeral will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 in Milton Christian Church at 2:00 pm. Wallace; Stanley Arthur

Wallace, Stanley Arthur, 83, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away on Friday, September 30th, 2011, peacefully at home.
Born in Cochrane, Ontario he was a son of the late Ian and Peggy Wallace.
Stanley was a former member of the merchant marines and, in 1946, sailed on the Liverpool Rover on its last trip from Liverpool to China, a six month journey. Following this he moved to Toronto, where he worked for 35 years for C.N. and Go Transit, until retiring in 1984 and moving back to Nova Scotia. He and his wife Midge spent 17 years in Greenfield before moving to Liverpool in 2001. Stanley was a former member of the Patterson Lodge # 265 A.F.& A.M., and Royal Arch Masons #218, both of Toronto as well as the Brampton Flying Club and the Canadian Merchant Navy Veterans Association. He was a prized gardener, model railroader and an avid painter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth “Midge” (Forbes); sister Pat Westwood, of Maple Ridge, B.C.; brother Denis (Joan), of Burlington, Ontario; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Victor and Donald “Skee”.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Liverpool. There will be no Funeral Service at Stanley’s request. Frail; Ilane Lovette

FRAIL – Ilane L., 86, of North Brookfield, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Sunday, September 18th, 2011.
Born in Westfield, Queens County, he was a son of the late Stanley and Grace (Mansfield) Frail.
In his early years, Ilane worked in the woods, the bucket factory, and was a self-employed truck driver. In the 1950’s, he went to work with Department of Transportation as a machine operator and later as a supervisor; retiring after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the North Brookfield United Baptist Church and an honorary director of the Queens County Fair, where he served a director, past-president and livestock weigher. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His passions in life were his family and friends, spending time at his cabin and working with his “old dozer”. He loved animals of all kinds whether wild or tame.
He is survived and sadly missed by his daughter June Lewis of North Brookfield. Grandsons Kevin (Pam) Lewis of Toledo, OH and Kris (Sheila) of Halifax; great-grandsons Tyler and Ryan of Toledo, OH. Several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Blossom “Bob” Fancy; great-grandsons Jordan and Patrick; sister Iva Lowe; brothers Cecil, Percy and Billy; and son-in-law Wendell Lewis.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool with interment to be held at a later date. A celebration of Ilane’s life will be held Sunday, September 25th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Westfield Community Hall. No flowers by request. SIBLEY, Norman Ross “Norm” – 76, Beach Meadows, passed away unexpectedly on August 3rd, 2011. Born in Chaswood, Halifax County, on April 22, 1935, he was the youngest son of George and Ellen Jane (Sargant) Sibley. Norm worked in the forest industry, the Halifax shipyards and then spent 31 years with the Dartmouth City Police department, retiring in 1992 with the rank of Staff Sgt.-2/I.C., Detective Division. Norm was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed hunting, gardening, camping, travelling and curling. He especially enjoyed social gatherings with family and friends. He was a dedicated volunteer with several community organizations and was a blood donor for over 50 years. Norm is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn (Corkum); daughters Lynn Sibley (Robert LePine) and Jo-Anne Sibley, Dartmouth; grandsons Timothy Hilchey, Dartmouth, Daniel Hilchey (Raechelle Speight), Halifax; great-grandson Dawson Hilchey, Halifax; sister Gladys Kerr, Meaghers Grant; sister-in-law Eva Sibley, Ontario; along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters Mary Fiske, Susan MacLeod, Dora Kinsmen, Velma Dickie and Effie Bell; brothers Ivan, George (Eddie), Ellis, Cecil, Earl and infant Alvin. It was Norm’s wish to donate his body to Dalhousie University for medical science. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 24th, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., from Emmanuel United Church, Beach Meadows. Freeman, Walter Wile, 83, of Greenfield, Queens County, passed away on Wednesday, September 7th, 2011, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, V.G. Site, Halifax after a brief illness.
Born in Greenfield, he was the youngest son of the late Harry and Leda (Wile) Freeman.
He was retired from Shell Canada living and working in many communities throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. An avid golfer, he belonged to the club in every community where he resided. He was currently an active member of the White Point Golf and Country Club in Liverpool and a past president. He was an active member of the Kinsmen Club and K-40 over the years and a life member of the Halifax Kinsmen Club and also the South Shore Senior Men’s Golf Association. He was a current member of the South Shore Regional Hospital Board, Jolly Ponoquers Seniors Club, a volunteer fireman and a senior deacon of the Greenfield United Baptist Church. Very active in community affairs in Greenfield and throughout Queens County, he served on the Queens County Planning Commission. He was instrumental in the process to construct the Greenfield Baptist Church and Recreation Center of which his son Deryck was the design architect. He enjoyed outdoor activities from an early age and was involved in baseball, bowling, hockey, curling, golf, hunting and fly fishing. Well known for his planked salmon parties, he was asked to be guest “chef” at many local functions. Young at heart, he enjoyed social activities, singing and being involved with his community.
He is survived by his second wife, Shirley; two daughters, Anna (Julien) Albert, of Bathurst , N.B., Jocelyn (Marc) Simard of Halifax. Stepdaughter Elizabeth (Jim) Fraelic of Brooklyn. Stepsons Bill (Heather) Wharton of Chester and Allan Bolivar of Middlefield. Sister Alean Freeman of Greenfield. Daughter-in-law Debbie Clark of Halifax. Sister-in-law Freda Freeman of Greenfield. Grandchildren Justin, Guy, Stephanie, Eric, Joel, Bryant, Logan, Leanne, Scott, Angela, Billy and six great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce (Strum); son Deryck, sister Roxie and brother Harry.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral and Cremation Service, Liverpool. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 11th, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. from the Greenfield United Baptist Church and a Celebration of Walter’s life will be held Monday, September 12th, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception, also from the Greenfield United Baptist Church. MITCHELL – Edna B., 98, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Queens Manor, Liverpool on Thursday, September 8th, 2011.
Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Ann (Lawrence) Warrington.
Edna worked in the former Civic Hospital in Halifax as a sterilizer for a number of years. She enjoyed bowling and bingo.
She is survived by her daughters June (John) Elwin of Dominica, Jamaica and Joan Prevost of Montreal, PQ. Sons Edwin “Dude” Young of Liverpool and Ward (Jill) Young of London, ON. 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Sisters Genora Power of Dartmouth and Geneva Tupper of Abbottsford, BC.
She was predeceased by her first husband Donald Young, her companion William Power, her daughter Donalda Willis, her grandson Kevin Young, sister Marjorie Christmas and brothers Vincent, Freeland, Eugene, Murray, Mervin and Reginald.

Rowter, Arnold Ellsworth “Tim”, 81, of Maitland Bridge, passed away on Wednesday, September 7th, 2011, at home.
Born in Maitland Bridge, he was a son of the late Frank and Mildred (McCarty) Rowter.
Tim was employed with Parks Canada for many years, until his retirement from Ranger Services. He was a lumberman by trade and enjoyed spending many countless hours in the woods. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife Althea (Carver), son Frank (Judy), of Hammonds Plains; granddaughters Angela Rowter, Sally Rowter; great-grandsons Brandon Rowter, Jack Keeping, Josh Keeping, all of Hammonds Plains.
He was predeceased by a brother Allen.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 P.M., both from St. Paul’s United Church,, Maitland Bridge on Saturday, September 10th, 2011. OLSEN- Hildred V. “Hoodie”, 85, of Riverview, NB, formerly of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 with her family by her side.
Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Chandler) Thorbourne.
She worked for the Liverpool Post Office for many years. She was also a past member of the Liverpool Business and Professional Women’s Club and served as treasurer. Hoodie was a member of the Trinity Anglican Church and a past member of the A.C.W. and Altar Guild. In her later years she enjoyed knitting for charities, reading and listening to music but most of all being near her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Duane (Elsie) of Riverview, NB and 3 grandchildren Tiffany, Mitchell and Alyssia. Half-sister Alta (Murphy).
She was predeceased by her husband Mitchell and her stepfather Arthur Freeman. Sisters Ester, Lucy, Margaret and Lina. Brothers Laurie, Bruce, Harry “Bud”, Perry, Ivan and George.
