Chandler, Kenneth Lawrence, 89, of Beach Meadows, Queens County, passed away Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011, in Queens Manor, Liverpool.
Born in Beach Meadows, he was the son of the late Frederick and Ursula (Manthorne) Chandler.
Ken first worked for Thompson Bros. , before going to work for Bowater Mersey Paper Company, where he worked for many years up until he retired. Over the years Ken also enjoyed his Massey Ferguson Tractor and working on his family farm, where he raised pure bred heifers. He enjoyed fishing and in his younger years he also enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed the company of his many friends and was always willing to share a story and a laugh.
He is survived by his daughters Alethia Keating, of Beach Meadows, Laura Chandler, of LaBelle; son Aubrey (Sheree), of Beach Meadows; grandchildren Lisa, Tony, Tim, Pam, Kenny, Amanda and Jake; great-grandchildren Tytan, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Jessie, Glen, Briar, Olivia, Marcus, David and Anthony; great-great grandchildren William and Chelsea; daughter-in-law Ann Chandler, of Port Alberni, B.C..
He is predeceased by his wife Felicia; son Walter; son-in-law Michael; sisters Violet, Della, Ellen, Margaret; grandsons Jeff and Craig; great-grandson Kyle.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 24th, 2011, from 7-9 p.m., at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 25th, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., from Emanuel United Church, Beach Meadows. Lay Minister Peter Anthony officiating. CROUSE – Marjice Rose (1937 – 2011) of Hillsview Acres, formerly of Bridgewater, passed away in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on February 11th, 2011.
Born in Italy Cross, Marjice was a daughter of the late Fred and Gertrude Crouse.
Marjice had a big love for animals especially the two resident cats at her home in Hillsview Acres, Middlefield. Marjice’s life was greatly fulfilled by the staff and residents whom she accepted into her heart as family.
She is survived by her sisters: Alice (Patrick) MacMillan and Velma (Sam) Simpson. Her brothers Malcolm (Marion) and Melvin (Donna). Special Stepdad Rex Legay as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews. Friends Marie, Yvonne and telephone buddy Muriel. Although Marjice had no children of her own, she loved and was loved in return by Nicholas, son of niece Donna (Lawrence), Patrick, Emma and Connor, children of niece Gena (Neil), Nolan and Carter, sons of niece Julie (Corey), Jayden, Chase and Taelor, children of nephew Phillip (Shawna).
She was predeceased by her infant sister Rose and sister Doris Melanson. Brothers Eugene and Darrell.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. CONRAD – A. “Bert”, 83, of West Berlin, Queens County, passed away peacefully in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia on Sunday, February 20th, 2011.
Born in West Berlin, he was a son of the late A. Lambert and Emily (Teal) Conrad.
Bert was a long time employee with Bowater Mersey Paper Company having worked there for over 25 years until his retirement. He enjoyed working around his house “puttering” in his spare time and driving; doing local travelling. He also enjoyed listening to the old style country and western music and reading the Chronicle-Herald which was a daily ritual for him.
He is survived by his wife Greta, his daughter Tammy (Bill) Legere of Dartmouth and his son Darren (Clarice) of Orangeville, ON.
He was predeceased by his sisters Kathleen and Dora White and his brothers Carl, Abbott and Wilson.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 from 7 until 9 p.m. and funeral service will be Thursday, February 24th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., both in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. NICKERSON – Barbara P., “Big Butterfly” of East Port l’Hebert, Queens County, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, February 19th, 2011.
Born in Sandy Point, Shelburne Co., she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Dorothy (Hubley) Morash.
Barbara was an avid bingo player and, at one time, called bingo. She loved music and enjoyed dances and singing.
She is survived by her husband Gerald, sisters: Connie (Earl) Himmelman and Marlene (St. Clair) Himmelman, both of East Port l’Hebert, Linda (Perley) Stewart of Hamilton, ON, Marion Pitman of Lloydminster, SK.
She was predeceased by her sister Phyllis and brother Vaughn.

PEDERSEN – Marjorie Louise , 79, of Bridgewater, formerly of Victoria, BC and Liverpool, passed away peacefully February 9th, 2011 in Harbour View Haven, Luenburg.
Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Jessie (Feener) Stafford.
Marjorie’s life encompassed raising her three girls while pursuing her own career. Early on, she worked as a telephone operator and florist as well as a pharmacy assistant and home support worker. She became an LPN and was one of the original care workers when Queens Manor opened its doors. She was a personal care worker at Cartier House, Home For The Aged in Coquitlam, BC. Her hobbies included ceramics, curling, sewing, knitting, reading mystery novels and music.
She courageously moved west to BC in 1982 after 51 years in Liverpool. As she continued her nursing career, she met and married Fred Pedersen. Together, they retired to Victoria where she remained active in arts and crafts, sewing and curling. She finally retired to good old Nova Scotia in 2005, settling in Bridgewater, which enabled her to reunite with life-long friends and family members.
Marjorie will be remembered for her twinkling blue eyes, her jokes and pranks and the laughter that followed as well as her love of music. Always ready for fun with great friends, she’d grab anyone who would dance to come “Boogie” with her! She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend; she was a “shining star”.
She is survived by her daughters Sandy Tonello-Greenfield of Richmond, BC and Crystal (Alton) Smith of Mersey Point. Grandchildren Kerri Nickerson (John MacNeil) of Halifax, Stephen Nickerson of Summerville, Macartney Tonello-Greenfield of Vancouver, BC, Hayleigh Smith of Mersey Point and great-granddaughter Olivia MacNeil of Halifax. Brother Merrill (Elsie) Stafford of Bridgewater, sisters Grace (Jim) McAvoy of Halifax and Reta (Glenn) Joudrey of Windsor as well as many nieces and nephews..
She was predeceased by her first husband Ledo Tonello, her second husband Fred Pedersen, daughter Patricia Nickerson, son-in-law Michael Nickerson, brothers Arnold and Richard Stafford and sister Evelyn Wilson.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where a memorial service will be held Friday, February 25th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.. LILLY, F. Clarence “Butch” – It is with great sadness that the family of Clarence “Butch” Lilly, 69, of Liverpool, Queens County announces his sudden passing on Saturday, February 12th, 2011 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater with his family and friends by his side.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Andrew and Emily (Skinner) Lilly.
Butch was a member of the Liverpool Firefighters Association and President of the Honorary Firefighters Club.. He was a Level 2 Instructor for the Nova Scotia Firefighters School specializing in Auto Extrication teaching throughout the province. He was a founding member of the Queens County Ground Search and Rescue and also EMO coordinator for Queens County. He was involved with Coastal Queens Craft Association. He worked for Steel and Engine Products Ltd. as a sales agent for many years until his retirement. During his retirement, he enjoyed making wooden toys and attending many craft shows. Butch was nominated and awarded Volunteer of the Year for Queens County. “Puppa” took great pride in watching his grandsons Andrew and Thomas play all their sports and was proud of all their accomplishments. He was a loving husband, dad, “Puppa”, brother, uncle and a great friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen (Boutilier), daughter Tina Lilly-Corkum (Anthony Corkum), grandchildren: Andrew and Thomas. Brothers: Tom, Dartmouth and Jack (Lois) Antigonish. Sister Mollie Dowden, Toronto, ON. Many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brother Walt Skinner.

MUNHALL, Robert Leach (1917-2011) Bob, a quietly gentle man, passed suddenly on Monday, Feb 14, 2011 at his home in Mill Village, Nova Scotia.
He was the son of Horace Eugene and Ryllis Munhall of Cleveland, Ohio and Long Island, N.Y. where he grew up.
Bob was educated at Port Washington High School, The Art Students League of New York and, under the G.I. Bill, Columbia University. In 1944 he met and married Mary, his warbride, in North Devon, England. While serving as a 1st Lieut. in the 107th Ordnance Company, US Army, he was involved in the waterproofing of vehicles in preparation for the D-Day landing in France, during WW2. In recognition of his service at the Battle of the Bulge he was the recipient of a Presidential Unit Citation. Upon the end of hostilities Bob was one of several US Army officers selected to serve as “interim Mayors” of recently occupied German cities. In that capacity at Reichenbach on the Czech border he maintained order and administered the distribution of supplies. Following demobilization in 1945 Bob returned to the advertising business as a graphics artist, spending much of his working life at McCann-Erickson Inc. in NYC, but in 1963 setting up his own studio. In 1993 Bob and Mary emigrated to Canada and settled in Mill Village, Queens County, where they spent 17 happy and contented years, surrounded by the beauty of woods, water and wildlife.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary, his sons Robert and Michael, his grandsons Trevor and Matthew, and his sister Martha Benzle. Deeply missing him is his devoted Beardie, Rosie Dog.
At Bob’s request there will be no service, and in accordance with his wishes his ashes will be scattered. Donald Burgess Fisher – 86, of Liverpool, Queens Co., passed away peacefully on February 9th 2011 with his family by his side.
Born June 11, 1924 in Southwest Port Mouton, Queens Co., N.S., he was the son of the late Walter and Elsie (Burgess) Fisher.
Donald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel (Bower) Fisher, of Liverpool; daughter Sheryl Majocha of Victoria, B.C.; son Donald Eugene (Janice Wolfe) of Brooklyn, Queens Co.; granddaughters Amy Fisher of Eastern Passage and Amanda Maynard (Mustapha Maynard) of Charleston, Queens Co.; great-grandson Elijah Maynard of Charleston, Queens Co; sister in law Eva (Douglas) Fisher-Spinney.
Donald was predeceased by sisters Bernice Nichols, Bessie (Harry Wiles), Madelyn (Laurie Smith) and Elmer.
Donald served in the Merchant Marines throughout the duration of the Second World War, loved the sea and was very proud of his world travels. After the war he moved on to become purchasing clerk for TRA Wholesalers. He was Past Noble Grand – Odd Fellows, Stratachona Lodge, Liverpool, Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 38, Liverpool and former President of the Queens County Veterans Club.
Donald was a great husband, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend who loved all people, was an avid visitor of the sick and elderly, a friend to all and stranger to none. He was a consummate family man and gentleman who will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 11th, 2011, from 7-9 p.m., with a Legion Service at 7:00 p.m., A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 12th, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception, all from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. MUNROE – Margaret I., 73, of Port Medway, Queens County, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011.
Born in Port Medway, she was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Irene (Wamboldt) Leslie.
Peggy was a stay at home Mom who loved to clean, cook, and bake. Peggy had a passion for shopping even if it was for groceries. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by daughters Patty (John) Campbell, Suzanne (Bob) Parnell, sons Chris and Jeff. Grandchildren: Jonathan, Jillian, Sarah, Emily and Josie, brother Alfred (Marjorie) Leslie.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold.

Born in Lockeport, she was a daughter of the late Percy and Maude (Townsend) Blades.
She will be remembered as a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, neighbor and friend.
She is survived by her daughters: Joan Fraser (Bill Gibson) of Halifax, Audrey “Billie” Wamboldt (Meredith Dauphinee) of Bridgewater, Bonnie (Dave) MacDonald of Timberlea and Joy (Bob) Young of Stratford, P.E.I..
