Harten; Emerson Godfrey

Harten, Emerson Godfrey, 79, of New Grafton, Queens County, passed away Wednesday, December 29th, 2010, at home.
Born in Richards Landing, Ontario, he was a son of the late Godfrey and Annabelle (Cain) Harten.
Emerson enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1954, where he served his country for the next ten years. He then worked in construction for the next couple of years before going to work at the Halifax Shipyards during the boom years in the early 1970’s. Emerson then moved on to work with the Department of Defense where he worked the next 17 years until his retirement in January of 1993. He was a member of the Kempt United Baptist Church. Emerson had numerous hobbies such as woodworking, metal fabrication, computers, reading and genealogy. He loved anything to do that might have a challenge to it as he was very handy at just about anything.
He is survived by his loving wife Arlene; daughters Karolee Floria, of Halifax, Lorainne Harten, of Dartmouth, Rebecca (Ronald) Delaney, of Fall River,; sons Steven Harten, Michael Harten (Jennifer Sorenson), both of Rawdon; grandchildren Jeffrey Floria, Christopher Carr, Samantha Carr, Dale Delaney, Neil Delaney, James Delaney, Steven Planetta, Dyllan Mills-Harten, Daniel Sorenson; sister Phyllis Haight, of Cambridge, Ontario; brother Elgin, of Sault Saint Marie, Ontario.
He was predeceased by a brother Keith.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 3rd, 2011, from 7-9 p.m., and a Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 4th, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., both from the Kempt United Baptist Church. HUEY – Gilbert F. “Bud”, 76, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010.
Born in Milton, he was a son of the late Melbourne Huey and Marion (Whynot) (Huey) Lee.
Bud was a former sheet metal worker for Steel and Engine (STENPRO) until his retirement. He was an honorary firefighter with the Liverpool Fire Fighters Association after serving 17 years as a regular volunteer fire fighter. He enjoyed playing softball and played with the Steel and Engine team and with the Liverpool Fire Fighters team. Bud enjoyed listening to guitar and country music, road trips, woodworking and yard work. Although Bud was a private person, he enjoyed the company of family friends.
He is survived by his wife Judy (Whynot), his sons: Kenny (Michelle) of Hythe, AB and Shane of Bridgewater. His daughter Debbie Wolfe of Milton. His grandsons Lincoln Huey and Michael Wolfe. His nieces Krista Zwicker and Kim Mansfield, both of Liverpool and his great niece Evelyn and great nephew Ben Mansfield.
He was predeceased by his step father Henry Lee.

Burgess, Lockie MacKay, 93, of Port Mouton, passed away Tuesday, December 28th, 2010, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in South West Port Mouton, he was a son of the late Arthur J. and Effie J. (Roy) Burgess.
He is survived by daughters Sandra (Charles) Gatzke, of Maitland Bridge, Carol (Allan) Davis, of Hammonds Plains, Oressa Murphy, of Clementsport, Faye (James) Conrad, of Port Mouton, Joanne (Stanley) Conrad, of Bridgewater; sons Patrick (Lucy), of Port Joli, Lockhart (Darlene), of Rawdon Hills, Gordon (Cathy), of Port Mouton; eighteen grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; sister Leona Jefferson, of Liverpool.
He was predeceased by his wife Irene; sisters Oressa, Kathleen, Addie, Etta, Marion; brothers Cecil, Lowell, Francis, Owen, Roger, Seldon and Aubrey.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 31st, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. and a Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January, 1st, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., both from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Whynot; Maurice Eugene

WHYNOT – Maurice E., 95, of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 26th, 2010 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Milton on October 27th, 1915, he was a son of the late Harry and Martha (Ryer) Whynot.
Maurice served as a lance corporal with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps (Transport) during the Second World War supplying the front lines. He served in England, France Belgium, Germany, Italy and Holland. Upon his return, he worked for Bowater Mersey mill as a rigger foreman until his retirement. He was active in the Royal Canadian Legion, Mersey Branch #38, Liverpool having served as President for four years and also President of the Vets Club. On the 60th anniversary of the Liberation of Holland, he was able to make the trip along with his good friend Cameron Crowell and other comrades. Maurice was also a member of Trinity Anglican Church and served as sidesperson for a number of years. He was a Past Worshipful Master and Past District Grand Chaplain of Prince of Wales Lodge # 29, A.F.& A.M. , Milton and a member of Arbutus Chapter #30, Order of the Eastern Star, Milton., a member of Rossignol Chapter #6 and Affiliate member of Zetland Lodge # 9, A.F. & A.M. Liverpool. He was also a member of W.G. Young Lodge and EBN Cockran Lodge. Maurice was a past Noble Grand of Strathcona Lodge #90, I.O.O.F. Liverpool. In his earlier years he was very active with the legion helping with suppers and poppy campaign, generally helping out wherever he could. He was also Parade Marshall during July 1st activities. During Provincial Volunteer week, Maurice was nominated Volunteer of the Year 2006 and received his volunteer plaque in Halifax from then Premier Rodney MacDonald. Also, in his earlier years, Maurice enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with family and friends.
He is survived by his sister Muriel (Frank) Morash, Moncton, NB; Sister in law June Whynot, Nepean, ON. And several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Long) in 1998 and sisters Belle MacLeod, Lily Richard, Kathleen Seaman. Infant brother Percy and brothers Raymond, Victor, Clarence “Hank”, Gerald and Herman.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 30th, 2010 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool where a legion memorial service as well as memorial services for Masonic and Order of Eastern Star will be held. Funeral service will be Friday, December 31st, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Chaplain Donald Lawton officiating. LOADER – Netta A., 84, of Queens Manor, Liverpool, formerly of Brooklyn, Queens County, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 21st, 2010 with her family by her side.
Born in Petites, NL, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Sarah (Courtney) Collins.
At the age of 19, Netta attended the Maritime Bible Institute in Truro and later joined the Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in Peterborough, ON. She, along with her late husband Wilbur, served over 50 years in the ministry with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in various communities such as Queensway Cathedral, Toronto for 12 years, Thedford, ON for two years followed by their move to the Maritimes where they served throughout in Lockeport, Halifax, Glace Bay, Bathurst, Hartland, Liverpool and Woodstock until their retirement.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Robert) Lake of Mersey Point; her son Brian (Vickie) of White Point; Her grandchildren Robin (Randi) Lake, Ritchie (Kristen) Lake, Damara Loader, Brennan Loader and Janelle Loader. Great grandchildren Morgan Loader, Rory Lee Lake and Rylea Lake.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years Wilbur “Bill”; sisters: Selina MacDonald and Clara MacDonald and brothers Edgar, Stanley and Garland.

WHYNOT – Robie B., 75, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Saturday, December 11th, 2010.
Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Calvin and Bridget (Sinclair) Whynot.
Robie was a papermaker for Bowaters Mersey Paper Company Limited for 39 years retiring in 1993. He had a great love of the water and enjoyed fishing and boating as well as his cabin at Labelle. He enjoyed his early years in Port Medway spending time with his grandparents. He had a passion for driving especially the “scenic routes” and loved his grandchildren dearly. He was a member of the Papermakers Union # 259.
He is survived by his wife Shirley (Wells); daughter Anne (Allan) Laws of Beach Meadows, son Calvin at home. Grandchildren Beth and Matthew Laws. His sister Donalda (Alan) Soper of Brooklyn.
He was predeceased by his infant brother Calvin.

SCHRADER – Eugene St. Claire., 72, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Thursday, December 9th, 2010.
Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Harry and Eva (Whynot) Schrader.
Gene was a former fish cutter for Chandler Bros. Fish Plant in Mersey Point as well as an employee with Queens General Hospital working in housekeeping. He was an avid woodworker who enjoyed working on Christmas themes such as the “Grinch” and constructing swinging chairs.
He is survived by his sister Carolyn (Raymond) Lloyd of Liverpool and his brother Robert of Liverpool. Several nieces and nephews including his special niece Evie Lloyd
He is predeceased by his sisters Isabelle, Florence Roy, Violet Oickle, Audrey Rolfe and Nancy “Tootie” Whynot. His brothers Freddy, Harry, Earl, Churchill, Oliver, infant brother Cecil and his good friend Robert Oickle.

Elsie enjoyed reading books and sipping on tea.

Robar, Eugene Wade “Barney”, 46, of Greenfield, Queens County, passed away, Wednesday, December 8th, 2010, at home.
Born in Bridgewater he was the son of Rupert and Sandra (Isenor) Robar, of Buckfield.
Barney enjoyed fishing, four wheeling through the woods and classic cars. He worked for a number of years at the Bowater Sawmill in Oak Hill. Barney was very active in his community and was a trustee at the Buckfield Community Hall and the Buckfield Cemetery. He was always happiest when he was spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his partner of 21 years Carol Hatt; daughters Angela (Marc) Belliveau, of Bridgewater, Carrie Mansfield (Adam Vander Zwaag), of Bridgewater, Katrina Robar, at home; grandchildren Ty, Tegan, Kyla; step grandson Noah; sister Wanda (Leonard) Amero, of Grand Prairie, Alberta; nieces Kaitlyn, Carrie; nephews Derrick, Dylan.

SUNDERLAND – Ann Elizabeth , 59, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on December 7th, 2010.
Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Catherine (Huphman) Roy.
Liz was a member of Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool. She was an avid cribbage and card player who, above all else, loved to win. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends and loved candy, especially chocolate.
She is survived by her daughter Darlene Sunderland (Catherine Salhus), of Kelowna, BC. Her son Cyril (Bev Hann) of Western Head. 2 grandchildren,1 great grandchild and 2 grand dogs. Her sisters: Carol (John) Bollivar of Liverpool; Janice Roy of Halifax. Her brothers Richard (Sharon) and Ross (Darlene) ,both of Liverpool.
She was predeceased by her brothers Douglas and Lawrence.
