Lundrigan; Jordan Fenwick

LUNDRIGAN  – Jordan Fenwick, 72, of Mersey Point, Queens County, passed away in the Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Saturday, September 25th, 2010 with his family by his side.

                 Born in Liverpool, he was the last surviving son of the late Michael and Violet (Boyd) Lundrigan.

                 Jordan worked for Bowater Mersey Paper Company, Brooklyn until his retirement in 1996. His passion for walking the beaches and shoreline of his community was known by many. Quiet times were spent reading at home. “Jordie” loved life and was known for his swimming and dancing which he shared with others. He also enjoyed a good game of cards with friends and family.

He will be dearly missed by daughters, Vikki (David) of Dartmouth and Tricia (Neil) of San Francisco; granddaughters Rachelle and  Jessica; sisters Gail (Frank) Jack of Liverpool, Christina Reynolds and Ruth Snow of Dartmouth, many nieces and nephews, with thanks to Coralee (Rob) and Jewel (Dave) who were devoted to his care.

He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn; sisters Elizabeth, Jean, Marquerite, Vera, Patricia and Clarissa; brothers Roger, Michael, Ralph, Leslie, Cleo and baby Joseph.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. A celebration of Jordan’s  life will be held Friday, October the 1st, 2010 at 2pm  from Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool with interment to follow at Trinity  Anglican Cemetery. White; Bernard Allan “Bernie”

White, Bernard Allan “Bernie”, 80, of Mersey Point, Queens County, passed away Sunday, September 26th, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Black Point, Queens County, he was a son of the late Harry and Selena (Finch) White.

He was a loving husband , father and grandfather. He worked for Stedmans Warehouse and Home Hardware in Toronto before moving back to Queens County in 1977, where he worked for Atlantic Book Binding and then at Stenpro until his retirement.

Bernie loved anything to do with the outdoors especially, watching and feeding his birds, landscaping his property and gardening. He was a fun loving guy and was always happiest when he was heading out to a dance.

He is survived by a daughter Judy (Ray) Dawson, of Uxbridge, Ontario; son Richard, of Mississauga,  Ontario; step daughters Glenna (Jim) O’Brien, of Lower Sackville, Vicki (Tim) Wolf, of Brooklyn; step sons Scott (Gwen) Oickle, of Western Head, Tony (Kathy) Dagley, of Milton; grandchildren Matthew, Shirley, Katrina, Cody, Krystie, Brittany, Tyler, Jessica; sisters Vera (William) Oliver, of Milton, Hilda Proctor, of South Haven, Nova Scotia; brother William (Marjorie), of Mersey Point.

He was predeceased by his wife Shirley, sisters Alice Crew, Irene Ross, Doris Thistle; brother George.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 29th, 2010, from 7-9 p.m., from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Hubley; Evelyn Orilla

Hubley, Evelyn  Orilla, 90, of Mersey Point, Queens County, passed away Friday, September 24th, 2010, in the Queens Manor, Liverpool.

Born in Black Point, Queens County, she was a daughter of the late John and Emma (Mason) Boutilier.

Evelyn worked most of her life as a clerk at the old Metropolitan Store and as a bookkeeper for Irving Oil. She was a past treasurer for the Grace Anglican Church ACW, and also a former member of the  Liverpool Home & School Association. Evelyn had many hobbies such as gardening, quilting, crocheting, and she was also very good at sewing and knitting as she also knitted  for the Red Cross  and made surgeon’s jackets during WWII.

She is survived by daughters Lillian (Andrew) Godfrey, of Beach Meadows, Rosetta (Arnold) Wolfe, of Brooklyn, Linda (Michael) Wile, of Halifax, Bonnie Shea (Paul Boyle), of Halifax; son Clare (Linda), of Wileville; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Ernest; son Ernest L. Jr., in infancy; granddaughter Nancy; sister Lois; brother Wilson.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 28th, 2010, from 7-9 p.m., at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 29th, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., from Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Roy; Elva Gertrude

ROY – Elva Gertrude, known as “Deb”,74, of Milton, Queens County, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 18th, 2010 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with her daughter and best friend Jane at her side.

Born in Liverpool on July 5th, 1936, Deb was a daughter of the late George and Jean Grace (Stevens) Westhaver.

In her early years, Deb enjoyed playing softball and doing a little gardening. She was a former cook for Lanes in Liverpool for a a number of years. A devoted and beloved wife and companion of Schedule, Deb worked from home for the past 25 years as a bookkeeper for their wood contracting business and in recent years enjoyed their retirement with trips to their newly built cabin.

Surviving besides Schedule, her husband of 54 years, are her daughters: Jane (John Croft) of Mill Village; Pat (Dan) Christoph of Red Deer, AB; Janet “Peggy” (Bruno) Delisle of Waasis, NB; Son Greg (Michelle Whynot-Roy) of Milton. Grandchildren: Allen of Middlefield, Harmony and Michael, both of Alberta; Jacob and Evan, both of New Brunswick and Tyler of Milton. Great grandchildren: Nathan of Middlefield; and Brooke of Alberta. Deb is also survived by her sisters: Gladys of Danesville; Ellen of Milton; Judy of Liverpool. Her brothers Maurice of Liverpool; Victor of Milton and George of Liverpool.

She was predeceased by her sisters:  Margaret in infancy, Marion, and Sheila. Brothers: Burton, Jimmy and Vic.

JONES – Alvin R., 70, of Liverpool, passed away suddenly in South Shore Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010.

                 Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Charles and Norma (Robart) Jones.

                 He is survived by his wife Patti Lou; sons Barry (Marcy) of Idaho;  Greg of Abu Dhabi; and Jeff of Liverpool. 5 grandchildren.  Sister Shirley (Michael) Uhlman of Greenfield and brother Patrick (Brenda) of Greenfield.

                 He was predeceased by his grandson Tyler; his daughter in law Diane (Poleski) and his twin brother Alan.

Doggett; Lillian Gladys

                     DOGGETT  (Anderson) – Lillian “Babe” “Ted” passed away peacefully in Queens Manor, Liverpool, on  Wednesday, September 8th, 2010.

                    Born in 1914, in Dartmouth, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lilly Webber. She loved sports and was never happier than when on the golf course and never lost her sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughter Gail Tutty, grandchildren Lauren (Joe), Greg and Jan (Todd). Great grandchildren Haley, Seth and Pyper, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband Bert Anderson and her second husband Ervin Doggett. Her sisters: Geraldine, Hazel, Kathleen, Carrie, Frances and Greta. Her brother Clary and infant brother Norman.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where a memorial service will be held Friday, September 17th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Judy Cross officiating.  A private family burial will take place at a later time. Charlton; Royden Alvin

Royden Alvin Charlton, 68, passed away peacefully Friday Sept 3, 2010 at the Halifax Infirmary after a brief illness.  Born in Maitland Bridge in 1942,  he was the son of the late Albert and Inez Arvilla Charlton.  He lived in Maitland Bridge his entire life and was a proud member of the community.

In his younger years, Royden worked at Raleigh Rowter’s mill and as a snowplow operator.  He started work with Parks Canada in 1964 as a labourer and truck driver, helping to build Kejimkujik National Park.  In 1978, Royden found his true calling as a Park Warden and served until his retirement in 1997.  He spent his retirement fishing, hunting and travelling to visit family and friends.

Royden is survived by Iona, his wife of 48 years; his children Chris (Tom Jackson), Cindy (Ray) Forrest and Colin; and his grandchildren, Nathan and Brandon Forrest, Devinne, Colton and Braiden Charlton.  He will be forever in our thoughts.  He will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters Darlene (Rod) Peck and Virginia (Curtis) Orde and several nieces and nephews.

Royden lived a full and rewarding life.  He deeply loved his family and always showed great pride in their accomplishments.  He also enjoyed his time with innumerable friends, whether fishing and hunting with them or retelling stories about past adventures.  Royden was an active member of the community and could often be heard before he was seen at local events.  He will always be remembered for his hearty laugh at a good story, but may be remembered most for his eagerness to help out family, friends and strangers.

Visitation will take place 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday September 7th at Chandlers’ Funeral Home in Liverpool.

A funeral service to celebrate Royden’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Sept 8th, in Saint Paul’s United Church, Maitland Bridge, with Reverend Tom Watson officiating.  Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.  The community will host a reception following the interment at the Maitland Bridge Community Hall and welcome Royden’s many friends to drop by for a story or two.

OICKLE – Robert D., 63, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Friday, September 3rd, 2010

             Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late George and Violet (Schrader) Oickle.

             Robert was a fishcutter and worked for Chandler’s Fish Plant in Moose Harbour and Mersey Seafoods in Liverpool. He was a dog lover.

He is survived by his sister Verna (Fred) Lannan of Liverpool. Brothers: David (Marion) of Moose Harbour, Otis (Barbara) of Liverpool.

He was predeceased by sisters Madge and Carolyn; brother Alfred.

Visitation will be Monday, September 6th, 2010 from 7 until 9 p.m. and funeral service will be Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. both in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Parnell; Muriel Rose

Parnell, Muriel Rose, 95, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

                         Born in Buckfield, Queens County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Aungberg) Freeman.

                         Muriel was a caregiver, a waitress at the former Stedman’s Store and a cashier at the former Peoples Store in Liverpool. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards, yahtzee and gardening. She was a former Lioness, former C.G.I.T. member, an Affiliate life time member of Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool as well as a member of the Friendship Club. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons: Robert (Edith) of Brooklyn; Charles (Doreen) of North Vancouver; Douglas (Judy) of Liverpool and Patrick (Marie) of Dartmouth. Nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  Her sister Hilda Munroe of Hillsviewe Acres, Middlefield and her brothers: Forman of Dartmouth and Leigh of Ontario.

She was predeceased by her husband William “Gordon”, son George, grandsons Gordon and Sidney, granddaughters Patricia and Rose-Marie. Twin sister Myrtle Brown and sister Irene Huskins and brothers: Gordon, Robie, Alvin, Harold and Frank. Step sister Betty Lou.

Visitation will be Monday, September 6th, 2010 from 7 until 9 p.m. and funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. both in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Coolen; Ralph Freeman

Coolen, Ralph Freeman, 94, of Moose Harbour, Queens County passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010, in the Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

Born in  Liverpool, he was a son of the late Lemuel and Juna (Freeman) Coolen.

Ralph was a veteran of World War Two serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Following the war, he was a fisherman before working with Mosher and Rawding Construction and then with Mersey Seafoods Limited of Liverpool. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid “Blue Jays” fan. He was a member of Grace Anglican and Trinity Anglican Churches and was a life member of Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool.

He is survived by his daughter Virginia (Bob) Sanford of Liverpool and his son Reginald (Phyllis) of Mersey Point. Step children:Lynn Tilly and William Tilly, both of Windsor; Phyllis Scuntry of Edmonton. Seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Sister-in-law Mary Tilly of Windsor.

He was predeceased by his second wife Maxine (Tilly); son Gregory, brother Karl and stepson Philip.

Funeral service will be Monday, September 6th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Chaplain Donald Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Liverpool.
