SIBLEY – George E, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at the age of 93.
Born in Chaswood, NS, he was a son of the late George Stephen and Ellen Jane (Sargent) Sibley.
George enjoyed a happy childhood growing up with his parents and eleven brothers and sisters on their farm in Chaswood. During the war years, he joined the RCMP which led to a long and successful career with the force retiring as staff sergeant in 1969. He was stationed in Ottawa for most of his working years, where he and Peggy brought up their three children. They returned to his beloved Nova Scotia after his retirement and settled in Beach Meadows where he kept a large garden and was active in the church and community. He was a very strong man, honest, stable and dependable. We thank God that he was blessed in so many ways with a long and healthy life.
He is survived by his daughters: Margaret of Beach Meadows, Kathy (Francois) Pilon of Dartmouth and his son Larry of Musquodobit Harbour. His grandchildren Eric and Sara Pilon and Arial and Gabriel Sibley. His sisters Dora Kinsmen of Welland, ON. and Gladys Kerr of Meaghers Grant. His brother Norman (Marilyn) of Beach Meadows.
He was predeceased by his kind and loving wife of 55 years Margaret Kathleen “Peggy” (How), sisters: Mary Fisk, Susie MacLeod, Velma Dickie, and Effie Bell. Brothers: Alvin, Ivan, Ellis, Cecil and Earle.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 21st, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Emmanuel United Church, Beach Meadows. Lay Minister Peter Anthony officiating. Burial will be in Beach Meadows Cemetery. God received a beautiful angel Saturday, April 17, 2010. At the break of dawn, graced with her loving family by her side, at home, Yvonne Caroline Mansfield-Cunningham, 54 of Westfield embraced her new journey.
Born February 9th, 1956, daughter of the late Theodore Weare and Avis (Canning) Weare. Yvonne endured great happiness in being outside, enjoying the beauties of nature, whether it be camping in Hibernia, watching Frisko and Vibe, enjoying an ATV ride, adoring her gardens or having a BBQ with family and friends.
Yvonne was an employee of North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia until her retirement after giving 35 dedicated years as a PCW, building a wonderful web of friends. Yvonne was admired as a quiet, strong, remarkably courageous woman. Yvonne had many challenges embark on her throughout her life, but she was able to meet them with her sheer determination. Family was an important part of Yvonne’s life.
Surviving are her husband Roger Cunningham, mother Avis (Canning) Weare, son Benji (Heidi) Mansfield of Westfield, daughters Natasha (Jody) Rhodenizer of New Elm and Trena (David) Smith of North Brookfield, and stepdaughter Kristina Cunningham at home. Grandchildren Justina and Jayden Rhodenizer and Cameron and Colten Smith, brothers Alva (Louise) Weare, Roger (Joanne) Weare, Ward (Marilyn) Weare and Floyd (Colleen) Weare, sisters Mary (Delbert) Weare, Anna (Howard) Mansfield, Eva (Allan) Weare and Cheryl (Benson) Frail.
Yvonne was predeceased by her father Theodore Weare, first husband Henry Mansfield, son Shawn Leigh Mansfield, brothers Maynard and Terry Weare and sister Paulette Weare.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 19th, 2010 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 20th, from Westfield United Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Lloyd Gillieo officiating. Burial will take place at Hill Crest Cemetery, Westfield. Barbara Pearl Corbett, of Liverpool, Nova Scotia passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in Queens General Hospital. Born in Milton, Nova Scotia August 22, 1928, to Bill and Pearl Dauphinee.
Barb was an excellent mother and loyal wife. She was very much a people person working at the local Post Office and later instrumental in the success of the family business. She was an active member and held office in the Women’s Business and Professional Organization. She loved country music and in her early years Saturday Night Dances. Barb was warmly welcomed at all the local suppers, community events and could always be seen browsing the craft show tables. She dearly loved supporting the local artisans and they loved her. Barb was always involved with her family and took a keen interest in many of their activities. She enjoyed boating and relaxing at their cottage on Ponhook Lake with Clyde and in her early year’s even trips to Kejimkujik trout fishing. She was a great family provider working many long hours so her family could enjoy the best. Barb’s greatest loves were her family and living life to the fullest.
Barb is survived by her husband, Clyde, her two sons Ian (Shauna) and Gary (Karen), her brothers Bill (Molly), Vaughn (Margaret), and Meredith. In celebration of her life services for family and close friends will be held at a later date. No flowers by request and donations can be made to the Queens General Hospital. MYRA – Jordan E., 99, of Moose Harbour, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Sunday, April 4th, 2010.
Born in Moose Harbour, he was a son of the late David and Clara (Munroe) Myra.
Jordan was a fisherman in his early years and later a dairy farmer. He often referred to himself as an “Ox jockey”. He remained very active throughout his later years enjoying gardening and family projects.
He is survived by his daughters Aleta Rafuse of Moose Harbour, Nancy Anthony of Charleston. Grandchildren: Nicole Purcell of Halifax. Troy (Cheryl) Rafuse of Moose Harbour. Janice Manthorne of Devon, AB. Maureen (Paul) McGee of Halifax. Great grandchildren: Alexa and Patrick, Henry, Matthew and Jenna, Jordan and Micaela.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Tarr) his sister Gertie Munroe and his brothers: Walter and George.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool.
