LEGGE – Jeanette M., 67, of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010.
Born in Milton, she was a daughter of the late William and Maizie (Robar) McCoombs
Jeanette loved baseball and enjoyed going to local games. She also enjoyed bowling and attending “Friday Night Fever” at the local Legion. She was a member of the Canoe and Camera Club in Milton.
She is survived by her daughter Janice (Dwayne) MacLeod of Liverpool. Her sons: Jamie (Sandy), Fairn (Valerie) and Stephen (Norma), all of Milton. Seven grandchildren. Her sister Debra (Rick) Wamboldt of Milton.
She was predeceased by her husband John and her sister Hazel Sherman.
Visitation will be Monday, April 5th, 2010 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. HERBIN - Mary “JEAN”, 79, of Halifax, formerly of Indian Point, Lunenburg County, passed away Thursday, March 25th, 2010 at the QE II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.
Born in Liverpool, she was the oldest daughter of the late Lawrence and Verna ( Modeste) Stafford.
Jean was a well known landscape artist, having studied art at St. Mary’s University and in Europe. She was a military wife and lived all over Canada and Europe before retiring to Indian Point with her husband Charles in 1981. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, sailing, taking cruises, and entertaining.
She is survived by her son Larry (Linda) Herbin of Bridgewater; daughter Karen Aerssen of Chatham, ON; sister Deanna MacDonald of Wolfville.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles Andrew Herbin.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 31st, 2010, at 11:00 AM, from St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Liverpool; Father Brian Murphy officiating. Burial will take place at St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery, College Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation. MacEACHERN – John Dougal., 65, of Liverpool Queens County, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 22, 2010 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late John R. and Catherine “Annie” (Gillis) MacEachern.
John was a carpenter by trade. He was employed with Mosher and Rawding and spent several years building beautiful homes throughout Queens County., before going to work with Bowater Mersey Paper Company as a carpenter/millwright. Johnny enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren, hunting with his buddies Tommy, Ray and Danny and helping his children and dear friend Kenny complete repairs on their homes. John enjoyed visits and telephone calls with Leanne and Peter Cole, our dear Aussie friends.
He is survived by his wife Roxena (Wentzell); daughters: Darlene (James) Wamboldt of Milton, Dawn (Mikhail) Porozov of Milton, Denise (Adam) Burgess of Maitland. Grandchildren: Nicholas, Nathan and Nicole Wamboldt, Bailey and Jordan Porozov and Caillum Burgess. Sisters: Mary (Percy) Cox of Shelburne, Anna (Gary) Jollimore of Liverpool. Brothers: Hughie (Inga) of Ottawa, John A., of Mabou, ,James (Donna) of Victoria, BC.
He was predeceased by his brother Thomas.
At John’s request, his body has been donated to medical research. A celebration of his life will be held June 19th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Union Hall in Brooklyn. ROY – Mary K., 76, of Southwest Port Mouton, Queens County, passed away peacefully in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia on Friday, March 19th, 2010.
Born in Southwest Port Mouton, she was a daughter of the late Merrill and Teresa (Wentzell) Williams.
Mary was a homemaker all her life who enjoyed reading, flower gardening, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, cards, cribbage and watching TV game shows and mysteries. She was a big baseball fan and a fan of the Montreal Expos.
She is survived by her daughter Anne (Michael) Hupman of Summerville Centre; her son Michael (Roberta) of Southwest Port Mouton. Grandchildren Craig and Sarah Hupman and Robert Roy. Sisters: Eleanor (Bill) MacLean of Annapolis Royal, Edith Williams of Southwest Port Mouton and Prenetta Nickerson of Liverpool. Brother Donald of Southwest Port Mouton.
She was predeceased by her husband Nathan. Brother Arthur and sisters Florence and Betty.

MARTIN – Alan R., 80, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2010.
Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Zenas and Grace (Patterson) Martin.
Alan is survived by his wife Elsie (McCorry), daughters: Jane of Oshawa, ON and Susan (Bob) Houlihan of Dartmouth. Grandchildren Lauren and Scott. Sister Betty Calder of New Glasgow and brother Lynton (Catherine) of Buckfield.
He was predeceased by sisters: Phyllis Gow, Vivian Smith and Louise Martin. Brother Laurin.

HARTLEN – Pamela A, 65, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Thursday, March 18th, 2010.
Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Annie (Henley) Ganter.
Pam will be fondly remembered by her family as a strong, determined and generous person who loved to be with people, especially children. She loved cats and enjoyed reading.
She is survived by her companion Randy Moreau, her sons Douglas and Trevor Whynot, both of Liverpool. Grandchildren Connor and Matthew Campbell. Her sisters: Barbara (Lloyd) Naugler of Mersey Point, Sybil (Reginald) Coops of Milton. Her brother Walter (Charlene) Ganter of Upper Kent, NB.

SMITH – Lester Ernest, 84 of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 in Queen’s General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Liverpool March 31, 1925, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Edith (Woodworth) Smith.
Lester was the last remaining member of his immediate family. He worked for C & R Railroad, Pepsi Cola Company and for Bowater Mersey Paper Company for 28 years. Lester loved camping, fishing, animals and spending time with his family, all of whom he felt very close to. Lester enjoyed his gardens in the spring, which where complemented by many.
Lester is survived by his partner Evelyn Herman, step-sons Gary (Gayle) Stewart, Carlson (Suzie) Herman, Darrell Herman and Chris Herman, step-daughters Debbie (Bruce) Fancy and Colleen (Renate) Bennett-Herman and a number of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Lester is also survived by step-sons Lester Jr. (Fern) Whynot of Milton, Sherman (Caroline) Whynot of Lunenburg, step-daughters Shirley (Richard) Peirce of Edmonton, Alberta and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Violet Grace (Joudrey) (Whynot) Smith, step-son Lorraine Whynot, step-daughter Maxine Wentzell, sisters Elsie Jollimore, Grace Clattenburg, Jeanie King and Margie Horton and brother James Smith.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 19th, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. GIFFIN – Shirley Edna, 72, of Sable River, Shelburne County, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Halifax she was a daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Hartlen) Verge.
Shirley was a 4H leader and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She liked to knit, crochet, camp and cook. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed her family.
Shirley is survived by her husband Stanley, daughters June (Maurice) Martin of Sable River and Dawn Marie (Mark) Davies of Ottawa, sister Barbara (Phillip) MacDonald of Port Joli, brother Ronald (Sharon) of Hunt’s Point and grandchildren Jeremy, Jared, Lindy and Shawn.
She was predeceased by her son Gary, sister Beatrice MacLeod and brother George.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, where visitation will be held Saturday, March 20th, 2010 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. WARRINGTON – Rosalind I., 63, of Mersey Point, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Sunday, March 14th, 2010.
Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Hector and Evelyn (Levy) Saulnier.
Rosalind was a waitress for a number of years before becoming a P.C.W. and working for Queens Manor, Liverpool for seven years. She enjoyed cooking and baking as well as crafts and yard sales but, most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Terrance, daughter Tina (David) Joudrey of Milton and son Terry of Liverpool. Grandchildren Terrance “T.J.”, Shakira, Tristen, Trey and Rashaun. Brothers: David (Linda) of Harriett’s Field, Ross (Marilee) of Mersey Point, Eugene of Moncton, NB.
She was predeceased by her brother Roy.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 18th, 2010 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Mouzar – Victor Gilbert, 83, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital on March 12th, 2010, with his family by his side.
Born in Beach Meadows, he was the oldest son of the late Gilbert and Effie Mouzar.
Vic lived all his life in Brooklyn.He worked alongside his wife Bea, as owner-operator of Mouzar’s General Store. They kept the business for 43 years until retirement in 1988. His years of serving the community gave him many years of keeping in touch with people and friends.
Upon retirement, Vic’s passion was woodworking and spending time at his cabin chopping wood. Every spring, he always showed a labour of love when planting his vegetable garden and pruning his famous ’rhodo” bushes. In earlier years he was a Brooklyn Schooners Softball team fan traveling to nearby provinces, to watch son Gary, play in championships. He loved the outdoors! Vic was a dedicated Toronto Blue Jays fan. In his later years he made several trips to British Columbia to visit with family.
Vic is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bea (Hirtle); loving daughter Susan (Brian) West, of Courtenay, British Columbia; brother Walter (Hazel), of Brooklyn; daughter -in-law Tinie (Giffy), Fralic, of Brooklyn; grandchildren Darren, Chad, Jenna, Michelle, Jill; great granddaughters Ella, Kylee; sister -in-law, Nita Foley, of Liverpool and several nieces and one nephew.
He was predeceased by his son Gary in 1992.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 17th, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., in Seaside Community Cemetery, Brooklyn. Lay Minister Peter Anthony officiating. Family flowers only.
