FRAIL – Royce C., 87, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on Monday, January 25th, 2010..
Born in Harmony Mills, Queens County, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Gladys (Waterman) Frail.
Royce was a veteran of World War II serving overseas with the R.C.C.S. Signal Corps. Following the war, he worked with MT&T for 42 years retiring as a supervisor.
He is survived by his daughter Patricia (Peter) Silver of Broad Cove and his son Brian of Hatchet Lake. Grandchildren: Matthew and Aaron Silver and Laura Frail. His sisters Irene Trider of Ontario and Nadine Livingstone of Dartmouth. His brother Henry (Barb) of Greenfield Park, PQ. His sisters-in-law Irene Frail of Greenfield Park, PQ and Madeline Frail of Dartmouth.
He was predeceased by his wife S. Winnifred (Rose) and brothers Eugene and Rodney.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home Liverpool. A graveside service will be held on July 24th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Harmony Cemetery. BURGESS – Bradford St. Clair 83, of Port Mouton, Queens County passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on Friday, January 22, 2010.
Born in Southwest Port Mouton, he was a son of the late Austin and Eva (Burgess) Burgess.
Brad was a former employee with Markland Shipping Company for five years. He also sailed aboard the gypsum boats out of Hantsport. He served with the Canadian Coast guard for over 20 years until his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by his wife Alice (Whynot)(White); daughter Pamela Stewart of Liverpool. Sons: Philip (Sylvia) of Vancouver, BC and Barry (Sandi) of Courtney, BC. 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Two step-daughters: Brenda (Gordon) Bowers of Port Mouton, Janet White of Liverpool. Three step-sons: Phillip (Brenda) White of Mississauga, ON, Brian White of Liverpool and David (Pat) Whynot of Brampton, ON. Several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Half sister Shirley Haughn of Pleasantville. Half brothers: Howard (Madelyn) of Port Medway, Lawrence (Shirley) of Brooklyn.
Bradford was predeceased by brothers Ellsworth and Desmond.

LAWSON, Ronald, M., 56, of Summerville Centre, Queens County, passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Liverpool, he was a son of Amy (Hupman) Lawson of Summerville Centre and the late Murray Lawson.
Ron grew up in Summerville Centre and attended Port Mouton School and Liverpool Regional High School. At an early age, Ron knew his passion was fire fighting and working in the woods. Following his graduation from L.R.H.S., he worked with a survey crew in New Brunswick prior to attending the Maritime Forest Ranger School in New Brunswick where he graduated in 1974. After his graduation, he started work with the Department of Natural Resources in Nova Scotia. In the Spring of ‘75, he formed the Junior Forest Warden Organization. Ron was employed with the Department of Natural Resources for thirty years retiring in 2004 as supervisor for Lunenburg and Queens Counties. In 2006, he was presented with the Neil Wilcox Forest Fire Service Award for outstanding contribution to Forest Fire Management in Nova Scotia.
In his spare time, Ron was a member of the Liverpool Baseball club and treasurer of bingo and a fund raiser for the Danny Seaman field. He was president of the Mersey Athletic Association and was a former minor hockey coach. He served as president for the Hunt’s Point Association as well as a trustee for Port Mouton School and Liverpool Junior High School and played in the band “Sandy Road”. Following his retirement, Ron did property management. He will be fondly remembered as a true family man but equally as much for the saying “Keep off the Grass!”
Surviving besides his mother are his wife Betty Jean (Fox); daughter Kelly (Curtis) Croft of Ottawa, son Ryan (Kass) of Edmonton. Grandchildren Chloe and Wyatt Croft. Sister Laura (Steve) Dobson of Dartmouth. Brothers Raymond (Janelle) of Prince Rupert, BC and Daniel of Port Hope, ON.
He was predeceased by his niece Amy Dobson.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where a funeral service will be held Monday, January 25th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.. CALLAGHAN, Tammy Lynn – 41, of Westfield, Queens Co., passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Liverpool, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Maxine (Croft) Mansfield. Family was very important to Tammy, she was especially proud of her children. She worked at the North Queens Nursing Home as a PCW. Tammy was well-known for her gift of writing poetry. She won numerous awards and even had some of her work published. She is survived by her husband, Joe; daughter Brittany; sons, Steven, Kyle, all at home; brothers, Steven (Cheryl), of Harmony; James (Lori), of Harmony; Gary (Suanne), of Hibernia; Terry (Tabatha Dorey), of Caledonia. She was predeceased by her niece, Myra Mansfield. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Rafuse, Basil W., 92, of Charleston, Queens County, passed away Friday, January 15th, 2010, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Sidney and Idella (Baker) Rafuse.
Basil worked most of his life at the Bowater Mersey Paper Company, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Zetland Lodge #49. Basil enjoyed salmon fishing and gardening.
He is survived by daughters Marie (Owen) Zwicker, of Vaughn, Susan Dean, of Liverpool, Sheila (Larry) Lowe, of Moranville, Alberta; son Reginald (Charlotte), of Charleston; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson.
He was predeceased by his wife Enid; son Atwood; grandson Stacy; sisters Frances, Nora, Marvel, Elizabeth, Verna, Irene; brothers Gilbert, Freeman.
A Celebration of Basil’s Life will be held Thursday, January 21st, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Reverend Jennifer Garbin officiating. Fancey, Victor Harry, 88, of North Brookfield, Queens County, passed away Thursday, January 14th, 2010, in Fisherman’s Memorial Veterans Unit, Lunenburg.
Born in Sheffield Mills, Kings County, he was a son of the late Carmon and Lina (Hirtle) Fancey.
Victor was a veteran of WWII, having served overseas. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He spent most of his working life as a truck driver and woodsman. Victor enjoyed carpentry and hunting and he was well known for his joke telling. He was a member of North Brookfield United Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, the former Elsie Henley; son Allan (Candy), of North Brookfield; daughter Pam (Grant) Lewis, of New Minas granddaughters Vickey and Ellen; brother Malcolm (Tina), of Halifax.; sister Daisy Frail, of Bridgewater.
He was predeceased by grandsons Carmon and Derek, sisters Beatrice, Violet, Blossom “Bob”.

Richard, Donald Willis, 99, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 at Shoreham Village, Chester.
Born in Pentz, he was a son of the late Willis and Edith (Pentz) Richard.
Donald worked many years up until his retirement for the Bowater Mersey paper company. He was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool, Order of the Eastern Star, Arbutus Chapter #30, Liverpool and the Prince of Wales #30 AF & AM, Milton. Donald was known as a jack of all trades who enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by daughters; Donalda (Leon) Dexter of Tantallon, Shirley (Myril) Greenough of Milton, grandchildren; Pamela (Jeffrey) Wells, Scott (Heather) Greenough, Holly (Roland) Gay-Larivier, Richard Dexter, Stephen (Lisa) Dexter, Michael Dexter (Lloyd Petrie). Eight great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, sister Frances Smith of Ontario and brother Arnold of Hamilton, Ontario.
He was predeceased by his wife Lillian, daughter Marina, sisters; Edith, Ruth and Violet and brothers; Earl, Angus, Borden and Norwood.

WENTZELL – Maxine A, 77, of Halifax, formerly of Brooklyn, Queens County passed away peacefully in Halifax Infirmary January 8th, 2010.
Born in Milton, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Violet (Joudrey) Whynot.
Maxine was a sales clerk with the former Worthmore Store in Liverpool in her early years. She was a homemaker for most of her life and enjoyed baking, quilting, knitting and reading.
She is survived by her step-father Lester E. Smith (Evelyn) of Liverpool, son David (Kathy) of Caledonia, ON; daughter in law Yvonne Wentzel of Milton, grandchildren Jessica, Steven and Kyle, sister Shirley (Richard) Pierce of Edmonton AB., brothers Sherman (Carolyn) of Lunenburg Co., and Lester (Fern) of Milton.
She was predeceased by her husband Leaman, son Gary and brother Lorraine.
Visitation will be held Monday January 11th, 2010 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., a funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. both from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Doucette – Sheri L., 36, of Ste Anne Du Ruisseau, Yarmouth County passed away peacefully in QE II Health Science Centre, VG Site, Halifax on January 4th, 2010.
Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Eric and Valerie (Whynot) Wolfe.
Sheri was employed with Register.com as a telephone sales agent. She was a waitress for a number of years and worked for Scotia Garden Seafoods as well as working for the Chronicle- Herald as a district manager and paper carrier. Sheri enjoyed her computer time but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her love of animals.
She is survived by her husband Wesley, stepmother Ethel Wolfe of Sandy Cove, her stepson Mitchel of Yarmouth. Sister Tammy MacLean of Saskatchewan and stepsister Tina (Glen) Burgess of Port Medway. Her brothers Eric Jr., of Halifax; Jason of Alberta and stepbrother William (Tammy) Parnell of New Minas.
Predeceased besides her parents were her paternal grandparents; Everett and Dorothy (Croft) Wolfe and maternal grandparents; Lawrence and Nina (Whynot) Whynot.
Visitation will be Friday, January 8th, 2010 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. and funeral service will be Saturday, January 9th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. both in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. REED-Charlotte Gerber – Final curtain call for her was on December 23rd, 2009. She went to be with her leading man of 60 years, Norman Frank Reed.
She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on July 19, 1919. The supporting roles in her life were her father Joseph Appelt and her mother Elsa Gerber Appelt. The characters still on the stage are her sisters Dorothea Molleur and family of Massachusetts and Maine and Ruth Paulin and family of California. Her son Robert Allan Reed and wife Remy of Massachusetts and daughter Linda Jane Mueller and husband Mark of Texas. Her granddaughters Jennifer Bedard and husband Brian of Pennsylvania and Amy Mueller of Texas. Great-grandchildren Emily and Benjamin Bedard of Pennsylvania.
The acts of her life took her to various parts of the world with her last act in Port Medway, Nova Scotia for 37 years. They made many friends and became part of several extended families. She studied at the Boston Conservatory of Music. She was always an actress at heart and helped raise money for the community by putting on variety shows. Her smile and positive attitude will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, in Liverpool on January 7th, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Reverend Judy Cross officiating.
