Linda “Bristol” Baker, of Red Deer, AB formerly of Liverpool, daughter of Geraldine and Mike Cushing of Liverpool, died peacefully at the age of 47 with her loving family by her side after a long six year battle with A.L.S.
Linda is survived by her two children. Her son Paul (Houaida) Baker and her daughter Sarah (Danny) Giesbrecht. Her precious grandchildren Kaiden, Colton and Dylan all of Red Deer, AB. Her sisters: Christine, Wanda, Stephanie, Sherry and her brother Glen as well as many nieces and nephews. Linda fought a long, courageous battle with A.L.S. with the help of her three dedicated, loving, caregivers Marrissa, Melina and Helen, all of Red Deer.
Linda will be sadly missed. With her bright smile and her loving ways, she touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Mom’s favorite quote was “Live like you were dying”.
She was predeceased by her husband Greg of 25 years, her maternal grandparents Ronald and Nora Lowe.
Visitation will be today (Saturday, December 5th, 2009) from 7 until 9 p.m. and funeral service will be Sunday, December 6th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. both in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Chaplain Donald Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Liverpool. Family flowers only, donations may be made to ALS Society. Minard, Ralph Edrick, 82, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away Tuesday, December 1st, 2009, in Queens’ General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Harmony Mills, he was a son of the late Roland and Daisy (Shay) Minard.
After 4 years at Caledonia Supply Company he had a 35 year career with Rossignol Sales Ltd., the last 15 years as co-owner.
He enjoyed cross country skiing, fishing, hunting, curling and time at his cottage. Ralph enjoyed people, especially time spent with family and friends.
He was very active in his community as Past President of Kinsmen and K-40, 13 years as a fireman and an elder in Zion United Church. Ralph served on the board of Queen’s County Fair Association, Zion United Church, the Boy’s School in Shelburne and South Shore Opportunities. He was very active in the PC Party provincially and federally. He was a life member of Zetland Lodge No. 9.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Catherine Joyce (Lohnes); daughters Elizabeth Anne (Neil) Emenau, of Hebbville, Donna Lee (Cameron) Hartling, of Lower Sackville, his special grandchildren Melanie (Tyler) Waye and Adam Hartling, sister Kathleen (Murray) Smith, of Caledonia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Wilbert, Clifford, Lawrence, Robert, Walter and Edgar and sister Marguerite Delong.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 4th, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., from Zion United Church, Liverpool. Reverend Richard Bristo officiating. Burial will be in Zion United Church Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Zion United Church, Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or Queens General Hospital Foundation.
